I’m currently finishing all my pre-requisites, but your videos are very helpful. I do have clinical background working in plastic surgery / dermatology for years and years

Hi Claudio! I'm glad to hear you think my videos are helpful. Having clinical background will definitely make nursing school a bit easier for you. What kind of nurse specialty are you looking into?

@@KristenWaldorf I’m interested is aesthetics - Dermatology and Plastic Surgery. I have been a medical Aesthetician for over 20 years. I have presented at the annual international plastic surgical nurses meeting as well as AAD - Academy of dermatology and ASAPS - American Society for Aesthetic Plastic surgery - I’m trained in chemical peels, lasers, treating hyperpigmentation and other skin conditions. I have been a scrub tech therefore having experience working in a sterile environment and performing deep TCA peels. I have decided to get into nursing so I can do more with my experience.

CLAUDIO HUTTICK Definitely sounds like you have a ton of experience! Thank you for sharing your background, your past sounds so interesting! I’m sure with this, it will make school more manageable, but you will also still learn so many new things. Nursing is a bit different than other health care careers, but I’m confident you will do well in school 🙂

Kristen Marie I’m learning fundamentals right now (first semester) but I feel like my thoughts are very disorganized....do you have any tips/videos on how to put all the concepts together and “see the big picture”?
@KristenWaldorf4 жыл бұрын
Lindsey Hey Lindsey! What concepts have you currently gone over? This would be helpful for me to understand how far you are in the head-to-toe process. I would definitely suggest registerednurseRN or finding videos because visually seeing what you are learning is so helpful for foundations. Don’t get too frustrated or overwhelmed either. Fundamentals is a difficult nursing course with a new perspective on how to study the material. My biggest suggestion is start practice questions early. Maybe start out slow and do a couple a day and then work your up to doing more like a week before the exam. Practice questions will help you focus on the concepts and understand the material better too. I would also suggest utilizing your professors and see if they can meet with you one-on-one to help guide you on how to see the bigger picture!

Kristen Marie we haven’t gotten to the whole head to toe yet...we just started neuro. I think my theory class is where I need to organize my thoughts i.e., All the nursing organizations and what they are used for and the interview process. I think I need to make myself some concept maps! Would you consider doing a video with tips on how to answer NCLEX style questions?
@KristenWaldorf4 жыл бұрын
Lindsey Ahh yes, the interview process and nursing organizations was a bit weird to start, but hopefully it eventually all begin to start making sense. I think concept maps are a great way to organize and visualize the information. Sure I can create a video on how I answer NCLEX style questions!

Do you happen to have a copy of the concept map you were showing?
@theheartmekanik4 жыл бұрын
I have question please, did you use concept maps for psych nursing? I'm going to adapt this concept map for NCLEX prep, I want to start early so I dont take too long to test after graduation. Thank you so much, great video!
@KristenWaldorf4 жыл бұрын
Soooo my clinical instructor for mental health made us do PIE notes which is more of a write up than a concept map. I had to discuss the psych diagnosis, NANDA, psych medications, the reason the patient was in the hospital, the interview responses I received, a mini mental status exam and any suggestions I had for treatment. It’s similar I guess, but there were still different aspects I had to cover than the concept map I explained here.

Where can I find that concept map template in your video?
@KristenWaldorf4 жыл бұрын
alymartinez3 Hey! The concept maps were provided by my school. I would suggest to google concepts maps and see if there are any templates you like. I did this with report sheets and it’s so helpful to have a template that is easy to use 🙂
