This is a step by step tutorial on how to make a concrete pot for your Bonsai! The cost per pot is mostly time, and a few bucks for sand and Portland Cement. Below is a list of tools and the materials. Good Luck-- let me know how it goes if you try it out!
Tools Needed: Flat Head Trough, Pot to measure cement, Pan to mix in concrete and colourant, sponges, diamond file, sandpaper,Jigs made from scrap wood and pieces of metal roofing
Materials: Sand, Portland Cement- GU Type, and Colorant and Water

Your finished pot looks great. We've made them with perlite and peat moss instead of sand, to make them lighter weight. That works well, too, and some of the pots are fifteen years old and still holding up.

You could do a shallow concrete pour in the Miracle Grow tub to get a nice shallow/slab like pot. The bottom would be the top and you'd have a small recess for the soil mound.

Add 10% silica fume to make a creamier, more plastic mix. Add 3% AR fiber or basalt fiber and you can reduce wall thickness to 1/2". Use CSA cement and demold in 15 minutes.

Hi, have you tried goong for a thinner wall, to simulate the same thickness as the clay pots or is that too thin for the concrete to keep from cracking. Also have you ever used any wire or mesh to stiffen to add strength. Looks like a sweet little workshop you got there. Do you have to mess with the ph of the pots? How much do your bonsai's sell for. I imagine at art fairs, flea markets, professional offices?? Thanks for the video.

I just found your channel this evening. Those are THEE BEST concrete containers I've ever seen. How much do you sell them for just out of curiosity? I'll try and make one, but, I know it won't come out nearly as professional as yours. I need a saucer shaped container about 15-18 inches round inside dimension, about 4 inches deep. What would you charge for something like that? I live in Alaska, so, I'd need one that would handle harsh and long winters. Look forward to hear from you.
