Hi mate, Being British I don't know what a "cornhole board" is but it seems like a simple to do project and after I have researched them a little more I may even make some! Thanks for sharing mate. N.

Hey Neil! Yeah, I've seen a couple of comments here and there from Brits who had never heard the name :) Apparently it means something very different across the pond! I hope you get to make a set, and have a blast playing it (and explaining the name to your friends ;)

using 1x4 is great so its lighter to carry around, and you can always put a few boards in the center for bracing

I don't know if you did anything unique in your build, but even though this is everywhere, it's great to see your version of the build. I like that you made them out of 1x material and used clips and a handle to make them portable. My friend and I are working together to get each other's shops set up so we can make stuff, and he has already been commissioned to build a set for someone in his family. Your portable set is probably the best version for the project. I know this is an older video, but not much changes in the way to make things from wood! Great job. Thank you

My legs are 35 degrees at the bottom. I also inset my frame and round the corners of the boards to as to not rip bags if they hit the corners. I also use a router and template to cut the 6” hole.

I don't remember which big-box store I was at (probably lowe's) but you can get 24"x48" 1/2" plywood sheets as/is there. I grabbed 2 and didn't need to worry about any cuts when i got home to make mine
@Iliketomakestuff
@Iliketomakestuff 10 жыл бұрын
linkinprk1981 Yeah! I saw those, and that definitely simplifies the project a bit! I've found that those precut panels are almost twice as expensive as the full size, per sq ft. But if you're only making one set, it's not a huge deal. I've ended up making several sets so I've tried to cut down cost.

Awesome video of an otherwise over done project video. I like that you put your own unique take on it by using the 1x4's and the pocket holes to still give it plenty of strength. The handles and latch are a nice touch too. I just finished my own set and wish I had seen this before to help cut down on weight.

Like the latch and handle idea, but just curious of how the outside of the boards hold up if their painted or have poly on them and you’re carrying them around possibly laying them in the back of a truck?

You should make one set with 2 or 3 holes for 2 hole one there should be a large hole and it should be worth 1 point small hole should be worth 3 points and the one that has 3 holes same order just add a medium size hole and that one should be worth 2 points

If you have a problem with following the line with a Jigsaw, I found that i helps to turn it upside down, it also minimize the amount of "splasout" on the top side, especially when you are working with chipboard or laminate boards. The only downside with this, is that you do not have the little plastic bladeguard at the end, so don't touch the blade, it is dangouse if you have not notised. another thing is it is quite difficult if you have a jigsaw with a handle, which you apparently do:(

Doesn’t matter if it’s a project that’s been done 100 times, it’s the WAY you describe how to make it that I think we all appreciate. You’re very honest (“I didn’t measure the angle, I just lined it up with the miter saw”) and you describe everything for us beginners (measurements, distances, tips, tricks, tools, etc). I just finished building the This Old House picnic table bc I have family coming out to visit for the 4th. Came out pretty great! Although I might try and add some kind of cross braces for the seats, since they have a very slight bit of give in the center. I imagine 4-5 people sitting on them would make it much more prominent. Suggestions?

Now with the Pocket jig screws, isn't that going into the weaker part of the wood? with it be screwed towards the end of the 1x4, shouldn't the joints be on the out side going in? and how did you make that scrap wood right angle ?

Cool build. It's interesting that the 2"x4"'s you had used for legs had IRVING stamped on them. There's 99.9% chance that it came from where I live and where Irving is located... New Brunswick Canada. Cheers!

Irving is an international company based in Saint John New Brunswick. Not only do they produce lumber and anything else to do with wood right down to producing TP. They also have the largest oil refinery in Canada. Chances of the lumber coming from here are high. But there is also a chance that they have mills in the US. Interesting Connection. Cheers!

Hi Bob love your work! Just re-watched this and noticed your 2by4s have the IRVING logo tag on the end...pretty sure that pine/spruce was harvested and milled in my home province of Nova Scotia, Canada (or possibly New Brunswick)...that 2by4 travelled a long way...We have a yard game here called "Washer-Toss" that requires a build that could make a nice project for your channel. From a wiki page There are four bags to a set. Each set should be identifiable from the other; different colors work well. The American Cornhole Organization Official Cornhole Rules call for double-seamed fabric bags measuring 6 by 6 inches (150 by 150 mm) and weighing 15 to 16 ounces (430 to 450 g)[1] Bags should be filled with dried corn kernels. The final weight of the bag may vary due to the material of the bag itself.
