Hi. I loved your suggestion. In Brazil, we love cornmeal. In Portuguese: "fubá". We have several delicious recipes. Try making this cake: Bolo de fubá (cormeal cake) * 1 cup of cornmeal * 3 tablespoons of wheat flour * 3 eggs * 2 tablespoons of butter * 3 cups (tea) of curd, yogurt or kefir * 1 cup (tea) of sugar * 1 cup of grated cheese * 1 tablespoon of baking powder * Beat in the blender Bake for 40 minutes at 180º

Great info! One spin I do when making cornbread, which I love making in a cast iron skillet or pan, I preheat the skillet in the oven, about 20 minutes so it's thoroughly hot, then a couple minutes before I'm ready to bake my cornbread I put about 1-2 tbs of butter in the pan, pop it back in the oven until the butter is melted and hot (don't burn the butter though!) Then I pour the cornbread batter into hot skillet with the hot butter & bake like usual. You get a crispy kinda crust that is so delicious& a fabulous texture! (Now I'm craving some cornbread!) 😆 Ice also baked my cornbread on the smoker- SO delicious!!

Can you used deercirn to make cornmeal and grits?k a

Hello Patricia! Cornmeal can be made from pretty much any dried corn. It is normally made from yellow or white Dent corn which is a common ground/field corn. Lots of deercorn or feed corn is that same type of corn, so it will definitely work for homemade cornmeal. In fact popcorn kernels aren't normally used for cornmeal, it is just a substitute, when you don't have access to field corn. Here in the States, normal cornmeal is super plentiful and easy to buy, but a lot of countries don't have it, but for some reason they do have popcorn kernels, haha.

It depends on the type of corn flour. Here in the States corn flour is the same as Cornstarch which is not the same as corn meal so you can't make the substitution. If your corn flour is just finely ground corn that should work.

A traditional Alfredo does NOT use milk or any kind of cream, but rather a bit of the boiling water from the noodles and some butter mixed into the noodles and repeatedly stirred. That’s not what we’re familiar with in the US and other countries though, where our recipes call for some type of milk added in.
@inthekitchenwithmatt4 жыл бұрын
@@bethanybdavidson Yes, if you say Alredo sauce here in the States, you expect a white sauce made with milk/cream. Traditional Italian Alfredo sauce is actually super easy, pasta water, good quality parmiganio-reggiano cheese (not the powdered stuff that comes in the cylinder container, haha), and butter. Only three ingredients. So it all depends on the kind of sauce you are looking for.

What type of corn i want to know what corn i need to grow
@inthekitchenwithmatt3 жыл бұрын
This is from popcorn kernels. If you are going to grow corn, there is a specific kind that you grow for popcorn. Although for cornmeal, you can grow any corn, dry out the kernels and then make cornmeal with it.

Could you not pop corn before putting in food processor..?
@inthekitchenwithmatt Жыл бұрын
I didn't pop the corn in this, so yes. So I don't understand your question. Or are you asking about regular dried corn that is not "popcorn"?

I tried to grind whole feed corn in my Cuisinart food processor. Ten minutes of grinding one cup.I got a teaspoon of ground meal. I gave up when the food processor got hot.

hmm, I have tried whole feed corn, only popcorn kernels. Popcorn kernels are pretty darn hard, but it still works in my food processor. The other option would be to get a hand crank mill, which will grind up that feed corn. Something like this amzn.to/2Xt8vvp But if you live in a place where cornmeal is readily available, just buy that. It is fun making it at of popcorn and then baking with it, though!

Is a blender ok to use?
@inthekitchenwithmatt2 жыл бұрын
You can always try it, some blenders are not as powerful enough. You can try a coffee grinder too if you have one of those.

Hi matt, i would like to ask if its ok to use blender than a food processor for grinding the corn...?
@inthekitchenwithmatt3 жыл бұрын
You can certainly try it, if it is strong enough it will work. :)

It doesn’t dull the blade?
@inthekitchenwithmatt4 жыл бұрын
If you do it all the time, it probably will. If you were going to make it all the time, you would want to buy a professional miller. But if you can find cornmeal easily at your supermarket, there really isn't a reason to do it this way, unless you just want to try it out.

Look in the description box and you will find the ingredients. The cornbread at the end that is made with this corn meal is normal flour.

If you pop it with an air popper and then grind it up wouldn't it be easier?
@inthekitchenwithmattАй бұрын
No, because cornmeal is not make from popcorn, it is made from the kernels. :)

I used to do the same using our 80's Moulinex coffee & spice mill because in Iraq after the "desert storm" and the siege we've been forced to obey, corn flour was not existed ... Have a nice day

Glad you were able to still make it over there. Have a nice day as well.
