My "How to Make Western Boots By Dave McKinney and Dennis Cottle" book arrives tomorrow, but for me the tough part to understand is how to design that blocker pattern, how to determine the length, angle and etc. to make it fit on a certain size lasts....

So you might have heard...the Last is First! We use masking tape or muslin to cover the lasts and mark out measuring points, draw out designs, etc...then remove the tape and lay out flat, add lasting allowance and then make a flat paper pattern. For sizing, you can grade up or down once you've made a few and see the variances from one to another. I could demonstrate this in a video...which might help.
