Oat milk has made it into the main stream just recently partly due to a company called Oatly. They are a Swedish company that started making oat milk in the 90s. Oat milk is incredibly nutritious and is a perfect alternative for milk. Another benefit of oat milk is that it is incredibly easy and affordable to make. This recipe is great to use just like other plant milks but this milk can also be used in your frother for coffee or tea!

My favorite oat milk recipe, It tastes better to me than the Oatly brand. The oil in Oatly’s ingredients is what made me look for a homemade recipe. I love how thick and creamy it is. I use Bob’s Redmill’s Organic GF Rolled oats. When I use cold water and only blend for 25-30 secs it comes out perfect for me, it’s never slimy. I make this recipe every 4-5 days depending on how much I use in my coffee during week. As a creamer I simmer (get it real hot but not boiling) a 1/2 cup or 3/4 cup of the oat milk with a little cayenne, orange zest, cinnamon, turmeric and a date. I blend it on high and it becomes the best oat milk latte ever!

Hi. I just wanna ask something. I tried the recipe today and I frothed the milk up for my latte. But a few seconds later the oat split and it was not creamy at all. Do you know why that happens?

My former mother in law was from Ecuador. She taught me to just blend the cooked oatmeal with more water and some sweetener and it was great in a pinch when I didn’t have milk for my kids. It was wholesome and nutritious. Now looking back. It was better than giving them cow’s milk with all those hormones and antibiotics.

In 1985, in Mexico, my 5 year old son was handed a frothy glass & he told me it was the best milk he'd ever had. I did not speak Spanish & quietly freaked out for a while because the house had no fridge! Finally my friend asked the family what kind of milk it was. Just oats blended in water with a smidgen of sugar.
@TJWhiteStar
@TJWhiteStar 3 жыл бұрын
I think why Oatly is getting so popular is that the taste is different due to the Enzymatic process they carry out in enzyming tanks, they add natural enzymes (think it might be Amalayse) that breaks the oat starches down into smaller components, primarily maltose, which ends up sweetening the mixture/milk naturally as well as removing some of that sliminess everyone mentions. (Maltose is also called malt sugar BTW so this is why it sweetens). You can actually buy these Enzymes in vegetarian suitable form so you can pre-soak your oats in an enzyme and water mix before blending (strain and rinse the oats after soaking).

Couldn't stand throwing away the pulp so I make muffins and plan to try making bird cakes. Basic recipe: using the pulp from a full recipe, add 2 c. Almond flour, 1 1/2 tbs bk powder, 2 tsp xanthan gum, 1/2 cup maple syrup, 1 1/2 c vilk or juice. Bake at 425F for about 20 mins. Great Jill!! Didn't ever think of this one! I usually use almond milk but I am sure it is high in fat compared to oats! So excited because I love oats!! Yeah!!

Truly, a money saving life saver. I can not believe how much I've enjoyed what recipes I've tried. I remember when I tried vegan recipes years ago. 95% of them were something to endure rather than enjoy. I Love your channel. I'm hoping I can turn on a friend who must change his diet. Stay tuned...

Hopefully you'll pick up this message. Have to say this recipe had answered all my oat milk dreams, the cashew nuts, wow, what a difference. I was on the verge of giving up, it is so creamy. Thank you.

Just made this tonight. It is easy and delicious! I love the idea of adding vanilla or coconut flakes in place of the cashews.
