Delicious Swedish Meatballs! (Don't forget the Lingonberry Jam)
You will need 1 lb. of ground beef and 1 lb. of ground pork
25/75 lean Pork & Beef makes great meatballs)
In a large frying pan melt:
1 tbsp. butter and saute 1/2 of a sweet onion finely diced on medium heat until soft. Place those onions in a large bowl.
Now add with the onions:
1/8 to 1/4 cup of milk
2 whole eggs
1/3 cup of plain bread crumbs
Whisk that all together...
Then add:
A splash of Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
Whisk that all together....
Now add the 1 lb. of ground beef and 1 lb. of ground pork
Mix well and cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Take a small scoop and form the meat into equally sizes. Then!
Wet your hands with cold water and roll the meatballs up.
Put the meatballs on a cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees
for 25 to 30 minutes. While they are baking make your gravy!
Now make the gravy:
In the same pan you used to soften the onions... put 3 tbsp.
of butter and 3 tbsp. regular flour. Whisk on medium heat for
about 5 minutes... then add beef stock.
Add a little at a time and keep stirring and adding stock until the gravy is a bit thinner than regular gravy. Salt and Pepper to taste!
Then add 1/4 cup sour cream, a splash of Worcestershire sauce
a touch of heavy cream and 1/2 tsp. sugar. Simmer for 3 minutes
then turn down to low until the meatballs are down.
When the meatballs are back from the oven put them in the gravy
and simmer the meatballs in the gravy for 5 to 7 minutes.
Serve on a bed of egg noodles along with petite gold potatoes
and a small dish of Lingonberry Jam. Drizzle butter on the taters
and sprinkle on some dill or chives.

That looks so yummy! We used to have a rule first home makes dinner. My wife works from home now, every two weeks she has to go into the office for two days. I’ve retired and for some reason I’m now the chef. I wish I didn’t try to impress my wife before, and let her know I can cook. Dang gum it! Anywho, reason I’ve stated that is I’m going to make this for my lovely wife. Thanks for this!

10/01/2023 - I made this recipe for us tonight. Absolutely addicting gravy. I didn't have breadcrumbs so I used ⅓ sleeve of club crackers and you can't tell the difference. Everything was seasoned just perfect. Those meatballs are very good. I'm thinking this recipe with be my go to meatball recipe for everything. Heck, I might even use it in my stuffed bell peppers, cabbage rolls and meatloaf. Excellent all the way around. Thank you Sheila and Jen for keeping Steve's memories and passion for cooking alive for all to fall in love with his beautiful personality and recipes all over again as we watch and re-watch all the episodes. ❤ from Southeast Texas

I make roux for gravy or cheese sauce all the time, Couldn’t find any I liked, But yesterday I used Bisto gravy mix, 3 cups , try it , I added cream , fried chopped onions meat balls I used froz my bad ! Worcestershire sauce, tsp paprika, 1/2 cup steak sauce, 1/2 tsp garlic and it tasted really good, was fast to make ! Homemade meatball would have made it better , but it was delicious anyway! Now today I find all these recipes on here !!!

Thinin' the same. It needs 'shrooms even tho they don't belong in this recipe. I saw a lady in line ahead of me at Walmart in Indiana put a jar of lingonberry jam on the counter. I have had them at an IKEA store in Chicago with my son & his partner. I am sharing this video with them.

I bake the meatballs in a cast iron pan, turn the meatballs half way through, make the gravy in another pan and pour over the meatballs, when done, still in the cast iron pan they baked in so all the meaty bits get added into the gravy. So much flavor left on the foil in this video.

Hi Sheila, just seeing this. I don't like meatballs or meatloaf much. But this I would try. Its got spices in it! I love the gravy though. I've never really made them lol 😂. These ones look tasty 😋! I've tried making meatloaf before, mine is horrible! I think I'm just not putting the right stuff in it. When hamburger goes on sale I always think I should try making one or the other. Miss Steve! Love ya! I'm still watching this... the gravy looks delicious 😋😋😋!

Get a whole nutmeg in the bulk section of the health food store & grate as needed. Much more flavorful than pre-ground & you’ll need it for holiday eggnog, anyway.

It looks like Steve could have used more gravy in the recipe. I would add more beef stock and heavy cream in order to have more gravy over the meatballs and noodles. I think some recipes call for grape jelly in the gravy.

RIP brother! I’ve just discovered your channel too. I’m always a day late and a dollar short! It’s annoying too. The few videos I’ve watched Steve was like a real cook (like us everyday people cooking for our friends and family) showing his boo boos, and him being down to earth. It saddens me that he’s gone from us. But I’m sure God, Jesus, and the angels are enjoying his cooking. From what I’ve seen I’ll bet you he’s already made them angel food cake, and devil’s food cake, and of course devilled eggs! 🤣 God bless you Sheila and I’m sorry for your loss. 🙏🏻

You are the only person I’ve seen using the only and original Worcester sauce. It was invented by 2 pharmacist Mr Lee & Mr Perrins . The only people that call it as Worcestershire sauce aren’t using a original Worcester Sauce just a imitation.

My mother in law showed me another way to season meatballs. (Used for spaghetti, anything you’d use meatballs for, and just plain to eat alone) They are fantastic too! For seasonings just use cup a soup type mix. Noodles and all. The noodles absorb the meat juices, and I’ve used onion soup and a few others. Just add how much spice that you want. Basically to taste. I use 3 cup of soup packets to a pound of burger. If your using the larger mixes don’t use 2-3 it will be to salty. Just experiment to you and your family’s taste. This works fried or baked. Wouldn’t 3 tablespoons of flour and butter be one to one? TIP: Have a small bowl of ice water nearby and dip your fingers in it before cutting the hot spuds. After every couple spuds redip your fingers in the ice water and you won’t get “hot potato fingers.” (See what I did there?) lol Works on most veggies and other stuff too.
