HOW TO MAKE DEVONSHIRE SPLITS
Its international cream tea week so let's go back in time and create some brilliant Devonshire Splits....
We are using a recipe from Paul Hollywood
DEVONSHIRE SPLITS
INGREDIENTS:
500g strong white bread flour
2 tsp salt
40g caster sugar
2 x 7g sachets instant yeast
40g unsalted butter, diced and softened
150ml milk
150ml water
FILLING
200ml double cream
100g strawberry jam
Icing sugar, for dusting

Fabulous! I'd totally forgotten these treats even existed but I now remember them from childhood summer holidays down to family in South Devon in the 70s/80s. Auntie Wynne would knock these up but with clotted cream. Almost as beautiful as your accent!

They are wonderful, sweet and actually got better the next day. Although don’t put the cream and jam in until you want to eat them obviously x
