How to Make Diablo 4 the BEST ARPG GAME (2025)

Here are the things and suggestions that can improve Diablo 4. These are just my opinions and these are subjective. 1. Bring back the Paladin/ Crusader. 2. Add the D2 Amazon javelin skills to the Spiritborn. Give the Spiritborn the option to wield a javelin. 3. Add the option to toggle weapons in your inventory similar to Diablo 2. In this way, you can switch into a glaive or a quarterstaff within battle without the need of going back to town to change weapons. 4. Add gears to the mercenaries. Add a specific inventory to the mercenaries. 5. Since the maximum paragon board is 300, why limit it to 5 boards? It would be nice to add more boards so that you can have more glyphs and legendary nodes. 6. Make legendary glyphs fun. When you reach level 46 for the glyphs, please give players the option to add skills instead of just adding numbers only. Like unlocking new skills and effects. For example, the Necromancer can summon zombie minions or blood thirsty vampires. 7. Runewords should be build defining. Please give the players the option to add more skills when they combine a certain Runewords, you can have new set of powers like your Sorcerer can have unlimited teleport and no cooldown, the Necromancer can summon fallen enemies to fight for you or the Druid can summon a grizzly bear companion. 8. Unique items should also be build defining. Some of the unique items needs a rework. A good example is Soulbrand, when you use a healing potion does not heals you but instead grants a barrier. It would be nice that they will change it to " when you use a healing potion, it heals you and grants you a barrier. While the barrier is active , you have 25 % damage reduction and 30 % increase damage. 9. Some of the legendary aspects needs to be added on the skill tree as passive skills. For example, the aspect of occult dominion, your maximum number of skeletal warriors and mages is increased by 3. These should have been a passive skill not an aspect added to your gear. 10. Bring back the horadric cube or kanais cube. 11. Please add the option to change the color of your mount armor. 12. Please add the option to change the elements of the Sorcerer's skill. Give us an option to change hydra into frost hydra or lightning hydra, flame shield into lightning shield, meteor shower into frost meteor, blizzard into lightning storm. 13. Add the 3rd enchantment slot to the Sorcerer. 14. Add the option to the Sorcerer to dual weild a 2 handed staff and a focus or a 2 handed staff and a wand. 15. Please add more varieties to the Necromancer minions. Give us an option to summon zombies that deals poison damage by puking on enemies, vampires that makes enemies bleed and leeching life on enemies, wraiths that cast curses on enemies. 16. Give the Necromancer the option to dual wield a 2 handed scythe and a 1 handed scythe. 17. For the Rogue, give us the option to dual weild a crossbow similar to the Diablo 3 demon hunter. Please add a mechanic that can give the Rogue to attack faster when they use crossbow. As of now , the 2 handed crossbow is so clunky and slow. 18. The Barbarian carries 4 weapons but your bludgeoning weapon is only limted to a 2 handed mace. You can't even carry a 2 handed slashing weapons both example on your left hand a 2 handed sword and your right hand a 2 handed axe. Since the Barbarian is the only class that has the arsenal system, why not give us the option to use 2 handed axe on the left hand, 2 handed sword on the right hand and 2 one handed weapons. 19. The Druid only has 2 shapeshifting forms ( werebear and werewolf ). Other games like Baldur's gate 3, the Druid has more than 2 shapeshifting forms. I am not asking for that but at least they can add Werecat and Moonkin for additional build varieties. The spirit boons are so bad and it does not do anything unique to the class. Also, please give us an option to change the body shape of the Druid. 20. Please remove the RNG to tempering and masterworking. The RNG should only apply for numbers if you have selected your preferred affixes. 21. Please give us some cool rewards when you complete a nightmare dungeon like a transmog or cosmetic. 22. No subclasses for each classes, no unlocking of new skills when you reach higher levels. The legendary paragon nodes is just adding numbers. They already have the codex of power but you are only limited to adding it on your gears which you only have limited options for your build. For example if you use razorplate on your chest for thorns damage however you also want to use other defensive aspects for your chest. So in order to do this , you only need to select either equip a legendary chest item or a unique item or a mythic chest item. Which you can only select 1. Now this would add more build play style if you can add an aspect to an empty slot then equip a unique item of your choice. For example, using aspect of disobedience to an empty chest slot then equip a tyrael's might. Same should also be applied to other slots as well. 23. For subclasses, please give us an endgame mechanic that can unlock subclasses. Similar to path of exile's ascendancy. Your Sorcerer can become a Wizard and can unlock arcane magic, the Necromancer can become blood knight, the Rogue can become a demon hunter specializes on crossbow and grenades, the Druid can become a beastmaster that can switch to Werebear, Werewolf , Werecat and Moonkin simultaneously and not pigeonholed on 1 build. 24. Please add a season rebirth. In this way, when we play a seasonal character, we won't have to start all over again. Give us an option to select an eternal character that will become a seasonal character but the progress of the character will carry over to the season. For example if the character is paragon level 200 with level 50 glyphs it will carry over to the new season. But they will not have an access to the eternal stash until the season ends. 25 . Please fix the conduit shrine.

@@Skulm One point of feedback I especially like was the idea of farming these trans seasonal itens that are hard to obtain but offer a valuable power boost. As long as these items can be continuously farmed through a season, providing both a time sink and an incentive to play various forms of content, people will be incentivized to farm them especially if the bonuses they grant are permanent and carry over though each season. This system would be the endgame meta, as supposed to just adding more endgame activities that get boring when played on repeat and have diminishing incentives to keep farming them.

@ Yea I agree. At one point in a season after a week a character reaches a plateau in power and any power increase beyond that is rare and incremental. Thus further playing this build to farm for salvage and crafting materials feels repetitive. Giving the players something to steadily chase throughout the season would be beneficial. These items could be power ups to spend on a née itemization/progression system that carries over each season. This new system could be seemingly endless and massive in build potential as to take years of grinding each season before reaching the end. I would call this system endgame 2.0

@@Skulm Skullum if you are a fan of Resident evil 4 then I highly recommend Silent Hill 2 remake. It’s a much simpler game in terms of mechanics. There is no mercenaries or endgame or leveling up items with currency, just simple combat, however I have to recommend it because Silent hill 2 is 1,000,000,000 times scarier and terrifying and horrifying than RE4 in terms of monster, sound, level, and environment design .

I’ve been playing D4 since launch I’ve got well over 2000 hours in so I have lots to say. However I’m only going to make one comment they are never going to make D4 into anything like D2 not only should people quit asking for it but I think it would be wise to stop comparing them.

Thank you for the input. The character camera focus is completely different as well. D2 prefers a more horizontal layout whereas D4 is a bit more vertical centric view. I personally like D2 horizontal focus but after extensively playing both I can get used to both tbh. I completely see your point about vast differences between D2 and D4 and I agree. For sake of nostalgia I think D4 should keep elements of D2 but forge its own new unique path instead.

Masterworking has a lot of potential for interesting and fun ways to grow your build. Maybe, in addition to tier resets, there could be some kind of offering system, similar to the Undercity, where rare augments could drop from different sources and allow for additional customization or bonuses, ie implicit increases, additional GA bonuses, or additional affix increases.

If these changes were implemented I know I would definitely be more excited and will play longer. Pretty sure my friends would as well. I completely agree with the PvP implementation. Player vs player is an excellent way to endgame, as well as keeping the game always active. And one more vote for the creation of Group Battlegrounds. Skulm, Thank you for taking the time to support Diablo IV. I've been following the series since 1997, and I'm sure that DIV will soon become the best of them all. D4 already is the best casual ARPG. The only way to improve the game is to make it not casual; and it's literally the only casual ARPG on the market. Problem is, casual ARPGS don't last. PoE lasted and PoE2 is going to last because there's enough complexity to keep the length of the game long. D4 doesn't have that.

and just one more thing, by neglecting poe2 you truly are missing out on what is to become the greatest topdown arpg of all time. i say this as a big diablo fan, i've played every single season in both 3 and 4 and love that franchise to bits. i didnt enjoy poe's artstyle either at first but i came for the gameplay and they've improved the artstyle a lot in the sequel. there's a huge chance it'll be game of the year when full release arrives, it's THAT good.

Regarding PoE2, casuals are going to be in a shock when they find out that all the early access efforts won't be saved. The full release of PoE2 will reset everything and your char/mats/gear etc will not go to an "eternal realm".

Sadly this is impossible, d4 cannot become the best arpg simply due to its pricing model. No game that costs 60$ and demands annual 60-100$ dlc purchases can beat f2p arpgs like poe or torchlight. Also the constant duping problem and damage hyperinflation (we are into billions already, and its only been what ..6 seasons?) are quite cringe problems. Nah d4 is not gon recover, especially not after the disastrous paid dlc which alienated over half of player population who are not coming back.

i have returned. easy question; dark souls is an arpg with amazing pvp, but that game doesnt handle loot the same way as your typical topdown arpg. you simply just have too much loot and too much power in order to balance a pvp-scenario, and you propose to include even more items and powers from previous seasons? have you heard about "power creep?" and what about people who haven't played previous seasons? are they just not gonna have a chance at this? the only point i could agreewith you on in this whole video was the thing about embracing modding for the d2-community. the other stuff doesn't seem very well thought out. if you want your character to always be powerful then just play an mmo instead maybe lost ark?

@@jimlarsson1696 I think my explanations did not come through as intended. The “elder items” can be achieved by any player regardless of season. It’s a different system which exists for meta farming and any player can eventually get it if they put in the work. Those who obtain it early will enjoy it early. There is nothing wrong with it. So everyone will have a chance at this since it will always exist. I am pro power creep. Balancing an ARPG is wasted effort. Things should be challenging during early season but in the end game our characters should be amazingly op. That’s how I see it. In any way thank you for sharing your opinion much appreciated 🙏🏻

@ paragon 300 is extremely boring and tedious process. As I explained in detail in the video elder items can provide massive bonuses for ultra endgame. I believe you are talking about reaching max level. I am talking about paragon 300. 2 very different things. You cannot farm paragon level 300 in 1-2 days after launch as of now. Impossible.

Your bring up some _really_ good points...and it's people like you that Blizzard really ought to listen but AFTER SIX Seasons...the consensus is that they don't listen and they _don't care enough_ that's why the massive exodus of players myself included. Too many painfully "obviously" good features have to be placed on "hold" for future expansion as "new" features. We *KNOW* this because they exist in D2/D3 and players loved them so no other reasons exist, not technical, manpower nor financial reasons but strictly milking more money out of players (can't even give your players something good back after making more than ONE billion? Smh)... Ironically, this approach turned me off so much I jumped into the POE2 wagon and never looked back. I truly regret my decision of the VoH purchase as I see ZERO intention for them to listen to constructive feedback such as yours.

After 3 seasons, I got 999 platinum, zero horses or skins, then the skins I got from the seasons, looked like a clown wearing pyjamas, at that point there is nothing blizzard can do to get me back even for 5 mins. Activision Blizzard is a greed factory and it won’t be stopped but I will be smart enough to stay away permanently, D2 resurrected…. Amazing. D3 5/10 after repeatedly doing the same end game quests over 1000x, I got burnt out then when D4 came out it was a huge disappointment and allowed me to play D2 and appreciate what was. D4 is a waste of time, do. It spend money or time. There are better things to do then waste any time on D4

You never address how D2R sold poorly and how support was dropped for it before D4 even launched. There isn't a player base for Diablo 2 in comparison to D3 and now D4. People love to fantasize about D2, but nobody really plays it anymore.

Yeah I played every season got 5 characters to max every season then I thought the expansion would fix the game like d2 and d3 and I was very disappointed. So I switched to poe2. I got like 220 hrs on monk and only level 90 lol I'm sure it will have a sword and board class before d4 as well. And 12 classes. It will take d4 6 more years just to have that many classes. At $120.00 canadian per class. I also got sick of killing tomb lord and duriel. 5000 times.
