How to Make DIY Chocolate Lip Butter

What a coincidence, i just made some coffee butter to make a lip butter and was just thinking about adding some cocoa flavor to make a mocha like lip butter. I also infused some vanilla bean into my coffee butter to give more of a yummy sent. coffee butter is so good in a lipbalm. BB sells some really good coffee butter, but its so good that they're always sold out:( so i decided make my own and so far its looking good. its still infusing and cant wait to see how close i got it to the real deal. anywhoo, this chocolatey lip butter. looks amazing! it will be todays project,(one of them anyway.hehe) i need my chocolate fix and what better way to do it to also get my diy fix at the same time? lol thank you Marie!

Oh I forgot i wanted to mention that if you rubber band your tubes together, it keeps them close like that really well and makes it soo nice to pour. I don't remember where i got the idea, but i tried it and it works like a dream.

Good tip! I've also heard that using some blue-tack works, too, but I find I'm reasonably decent at pouring these days so I rarely use anything to help... though it also helps that I'm only ever doing four to six at a time :P

Humblebee & Me I bet the blue tack works great! i actually used to stick a tube in some of my polymer clay. And this is definitely more so for us clumsy gals.lol You look like you have such steady hands, idk how you do it.lol I know practice makes perfect, but when you're clumsy, you're clumsy and sometimes practice just wont help.lol my family calls me superstar.lol I actually have some silicone mold putty that i am going to make some kind of lip balm pouring helpy device thingy.lol im pretty good with my hands when it comes to those kinds of things. im a crafty gal all around.lol and since ive got plenty of clays, resin and silicone, im sure i can come up with something. i ordered a lip balm label tray that this guy makes from home and sells on ebay and its amazing! its just a simple little tray that doesnt look like it does much, but it actually makes rolling on your labels,( or in my case, glittery vinyls.lol) a breeze to just roll on and perfectly straight. so instead of just buying the pouring device, I've been inspired to make one myself. i wish we could post pics on here. It would be really cool if there was a Humblebee&me forum or page for all of us fans/followers to share our creations and pics of our projects of your recipes! It can be your fan page! lol haha. no but really.;p

Not as good as your recipe, but I do a really simple lip balm with cocoa butter, coconut oil, and white beeswax which goes on really smoothly and has a light chocolate scent and completely neutral taste. Literally just about a tablespoon of each ingredient melted, stirred, and poured. Love the idea of putting lecithin in for that tackiness and will definitely try that for other people (I am not a fan of tacky lip products, although they work better generally). Goes well with my honey and cocoa butter lotion recipe!

I haven't for that one as I've done it for so long and it's so simple I do it by eye when I need a new one but otherwise I work in percentages ^_^ thank you so much for your channel btw, I was originally going to go into biomedical research and chose a different career path but miss my scientific studies a hell of a lot. Moving on from balms and bars to other things makes me miss it a little less XD

I'm afraid that isn't something I've played with; my experiences playing with matte liquid lipstick show that the entire recipe would have do be developed around the desired matte finish.

Her sticky lipbalm (50% coconut oil, 50% beeswax) is matte. But mine didn't work out with carmine and mica. But if you don't need color it is a great matte lipbalm.

Your idea of lecithin in lipbalm is brilliant. Now I know what gives my lipbalm that nice tacky to balance the wax and butter : it's the high content of lecithin from my vit e capsules 😁

That list is much too long to put here; the characteristics you want to watch for are toxicity, irritation, and phototoxicity. Check to see if an EO you want to use is any of those three things before trying it. Most food based oils work well, though citrus EOs are phototoxic, and some of the spice oils (cinnamon bark, especially) can be irritating if used in high concentrations.
