How to Make DIY Fabric Hair Bun Maker and Holder- Moño Magic

How to Make DIY Fabric Hair Bun Maker and Holder.
You can make a hair bun like magic in a few minutes with just some scrap fabric, craft wire and a few simple tools.
In this video, I show you how to sew two different styles using the same steps.
This is a great alternative to wearing your hair up in a ponytail or in a large clip.
Along with hair scrunchies, this would be a great addition to your hair accessories business.
I used 100% Quilting Cotton and 19 GAUGE craft wire in this video
You can easily modify the size of this Hair Bun Maker to suit your style.
To create a Hair Bun, simply slip your hair through the centre opening, turn the fabric once, slide it about halfway down your hair, turn under several times until you feel it's tight under your neck and bring the fabric ends together to twist into a bow.
It's that easy!!
Optional- you can twist ends of wire together or wrap tape around them.

Great tutorial! I saw an accessory like this advertised on Facebook. Being the creative person I am, I made a wonky version of it myself out of a scrap of dark brown fabric. It works fine and makes a neat bun but I'm glad to find precise instructions, since I was just "winging" it. I would love to make some pretty like this!

Thanks Lola! Yes someone else mentioned an ad. To be honest, I did not even know these existed 2 weeks ago. There was a post asking how to sew them. After making about 20 samples I came up with this sizing and method so there wouldn’t be any long buttonhole in the middle . I will be posting another easier method for beginners soon too. @@joleneatolondrado174 If you go through her instruction it says 19 gauge wire. Craft wire and wire you can get in the hardware store is basically the same but the hardware store is cheaper. I've found it in the area they sell picture hanging supplies in both Lowes and Home Depot. Hope this helps :)

Great to hear! You’re so welcomed. I originally came up with this method. If you look at the dates, my video was the first one. I did not invent this as bun makers have been around for a long time but came up with this sewing method as I was asked how could one sew this without a buttonhole opening in the middle. I spent two weeks after work and many samples til got this. The copycat videos came out within days, Some creators even used my thumbnail and parts of my actual video in their own. There’s also lots of thumbnails with red or pink polka dot fabric too.... Sorry for the rant. I appreciate your kind words. Have a look at my other video to make this as you may like that too. Sorry Barbara I'm not sure what they would sell for at craft fair but you can find them online and on Amazon. I actually have never owned one that was store bought. I created this video for a Facebook member that asked for help. You can test out with different sizing and also heavier gauge wire if you need but you can see how it holds my hair and I have also tested on someone with lots of long curly hair and it was fine. Loved the video, I am looking forward to making these. Just a quick tip, when cutting towards a seam, insert a pin along the seam to stop the scissors going through the seam.
