Yes! I believe cold creams are traditionally a water-in-oil emulsion rather than oil-in-water (as this one is),, but the general concept is the same 😊

@@heviutza Lush uses preservatives containing parabens in many of their products actually like their best selling lotion dream cream and the product this video is inspired by (Ultrabland), except if it’s marked as self preserving. They do this by using a large amount of ingredients like honey that are naturally preserved, and less water. They also encourage you to use it very quickly, within a few months usually.
@mahalakshmiayyangar57174 жыл бұрын
I like honey in my hair conditioner as well. My hair feels more conditioned. But not sure if a preservative would be sufficient to preserve when honey is used in a conditioner.
@alamatablessing8651 Жыл бұрын
This is probably late but I'll say use a broad "synthetic" preservative like germal plus or optiphen plus and then put it in a container that you don't have to dip your fingers in it.

@@fabuloose15 yessss! I tried it the first time without it and the second time in a 3% concentration! Idk if it made any difference though, but I’ll keep adding it the next times because I have nothing else besides the cleansing balm to use it in hahahaha
@stancexpunks Жыл бұрын
Wait, this is supposed to be about Ultrabland right? I’m confused because Lush doesn’t list an emulsifying wax in their ingredients.. unless beeswax is the emulsifier? I think the beeswax is an integral part of Ultrabland and what gives it a slight waxy texture that stays on the skin after washing with water. Ultrabland ingredients: Almond Oil, Rose Water, Beeswax, Honey, Fresh Iris Extract, Glycerine, Rose Absolute, Tincture of Benzoin, *Benzyl Alcohol, *Benzyl Benzoate, *Benzyl Cinnamate, Methylparaben, Propylparaben
@HumblebeeAndMe Жыл бұрын
This formulation was inspired by the idea of using lotion as a cleanser, and that idea was inspired by Ultrabland; it's not supposed to be an Ultrabland dupe :) I did choose a couple of the same ingredients since I was looking at Ultrabland, but as you can see, I choose quite a few not-similar ingredients as well.

Hi Marie I wanna ask when do I need to mix my preservative with some of my product first and then stir all of that back into the master batch like you did here? and when can I just put the preservative to the whole batch and stir?
@heviutza4 жыл бұрын
I do the same as Marie. I find it easily to incorporate and mix when i add a small amount of lotion to the container that has the preservative, to mix together well, and then put the mixture in the original container with lotion... I find it better to evenly incorporate, but i think it's just a matter of how you got used with.

I'm planning on trying this lotion, but I would like to use Geogard ECT preservative. I have visited your blog page, and it says the usage rate for this preservative is 0.6 - 1%. So if I was going to use this instead of Germall plus, what would I do? Example: would I add less oil and add more preservative, since I need a higher usage rate. Also could we add an exfoliant to this? Like jojoba beads? Thank you! I'm excited to make this soon!!

So this is a lotion that is labeled as a “cleanser”? I just want to make sure. Lol
@HumblebeeAndMe4 жыл бұрын
Yes and no, I guess? It IS a cleanser-it works beautifully to cleanse the skin, and if that's not a cleanser, what is? But it also works as a very rich lotion. We do this sort of labelling with all kinds of products! I've made "aftershave lotions" that very easily could've been a nice foot cream, facial serums that could also double as hair oils, lotions that could also be beautiful hair conditioners, and shampoos that also make great body washes. So much of how we perceive a product comes from what it is called, even though it might have a ton of different uses it would be equally suited to! Since we're talking formulation on this channel, I wanted to draw attention to that with this project :)
@queenailah834 жыл бұрын
Humblebee & Me thank you for this very thorough explanation! I make products also and this has actually inspired me a bit. I’m still learning so much about formulating and perfecting my products. This was such a great video!
