Hi Neil, we used 32mm for this setup. It also works great in 25mm or 40mm.

You can make it with any size, but the fitting price goes up with diameter. We have a 50mm pipe version for a 2.1m wide goal, but for smaller kids you could go right down to 20mm. Some very wet concrete poured into the back and side base bars adds some weight so it doesn't move as much

longer pipe lengths - maybe struggle for stability so you could try putting expanding from in the crossbar and posts to stiffen it?
