Should I continue to go DI and use the Ableton overdrive/effects or should I switch to amps and pedals? What do you guys think?
@chrisegonmusicАй бұрын
I think it’s nice to have the option of both.
@macaroon147Ай бұрын
Whatever makes sense in the moment i think, every song is different and you make both options sound good anyway ✌️ but maybe it's more relatable if you go DI since I assume that's what most of us do 🤷♂️

It’s cool not to be locked in to a sound, and to be able to tweak effects without replaying the part, so stick to plugins unless you find an effect that you can only get with a physical pedal?
@chrisegonmusicАй бұрын
@@lukehenderson436 you can always reamp the DI through physical pedals.

depends on the song/genre ig. Always using hardware worth of 5k could be daunting for people that are less experienced in the DAW, but on the other hand it forces to get creative and find your own way.

So cool that you use Abeleton and the built in effects, as a Abeleton user i can really try that stuff myself!

I’ve been impressed with how decent of tones you can get with just Ableton overdrive.

Never expected to see a “let’s make a song like” about Cloakroom, massively underappreciated band. That said, to call this shoegaze would be quite a misnomer considering the only interesting effects are the vocal chain (which was cool, never realised how much of the sound of this track was the vocal effects) but this guitar track is basically just dry and lacking the top end bite of the original guitar track. Which I’d further by saying I do feel like you’re doing yourself an injustice by using DIs with stock plugin processing, I can see the appeal for budget friendliness but there are plenty of quality free/cheap amp and cab sims out there and as a guitarist I can’t imagine writing any song much less anything shoegaze-adjacent with a DI signal where the tone is so crucial to the vibe or can even be the inception point for ideas. It’d be interesting to see how you approach anything from Time Well where the guitar signal is far less dry. Sorry if this reads negatively, truly props to you for this! I meant my criticisms constructively. Video production was great, loved the live drums instead of a plugin, tambourine on the hat is so clutch. Hope to see you in my feed again

I truly appreciate the feedback, Zach! Thanks for the comment. I’ll consider a Time Well style track in the near future!

Seeing as you have been doing post rock, shoegaze kinda stuff. Would you be able to do a little sigur ros tutorial. That would be awsome!
