To answer a few question is one reply: These are my own personal observations & opinions from building this circuit and urge all to be very careful because of the high amount of amperage that the 18650 LION battery contains! 1. This project is comprised of the following subsystems: a. Power : the battery, master on/off switch, 5VDC - 10Amp, step up transformer b. Detection: the IR detector, the transistor which acts as a switch to provide power to the relay which, in turn, connects "ground" to the step up transformer to send the 400KV to the grid. Way it works (with comments): 1. The 3.7V + and ground is applied to the IRD detecter. If nothing is detected it provides the input voltage (3.7VDC) to its "output pin". When something is detected, the output voltage drops to like ~ 0.2 VDC... 2. The way a PNP transistor works as an open/closed switch... with a 3.7V applied to the "Base" pin it remains "open" and NO current flows across the Emitter -> Collector to the relay. However when it drops to a very low voltage the transistor closes (E&C) and the the 3.7V is applied to the relay and forces it to "Switch"...I used a 2N2907A transistor but with the 1KOhm resistor the power level was reduced so the transistor would not get a low enough voltage to "turn on." So I just removed the 1K resistor and when I brought my hand close to the IR sensor, I could hear the relay switching. 3. The Relay is connected to "Ground" (Black wire with is also jumped to one end of the relays coil (electro magnet). When the transistor turns on and passes the 3.7VDC to the Collector->Relay (red wire), the relay activates and connects a path to the Ground (Green wire) of the 400KV step-up transformer. NOTE: There are 2 outputs on the relay... a NO (normally open) and a NC (normally Closed) connection that switch state when the relay is active...e.g., NO->Closed, NC->Opened.. You must make sure you connect the 400KV ground wire to the NO terminal or the circuit will not work when the relay is activated. 4. The 400KV Transformer is incredible "overkill" and once you see arc between its outputs, you'll understand. I and an arc that was a bit one inch across the outputs...My concern is this will definitely kill the mouse immediately but if the mouse doesn't move and the IR detector states in the 'low output state" with keeps the power flowing to and through the mouses body... in effect cooking it...I'm going to get a 10KV or 20KV transformer and see if I can lower the arc distance between the outputs. Comments: -The voltage jack connector doesn't make sense unless it is for a charging port?. -I'm going to see if I can figure out how to add a delayed switch that disables the PNP Transistor about 1second after it "fires!" - Maybe a resistor in front of the transformer to limit the current?

I've been looking at building an electronic rodent trap. This device looks like it would definitely kill them if the make contact with the electricity. My main concern is if the rodent collapses onto the electrodes. Whats to stop the current and prevent the rodent from burning up or starting a fire as another suggested.

I like this idea swell if it actually does kill the mouse. Having a dead or repeatedly stunned mouse continue to lay the electrodes may also be the main issue I've questioned. I have a few of those 400Kv modules, but plan on using an 18650 Li-Ion battery (or 2) to power it/them.

If you use a motion sensor rather than an IR sensor the electricity will stop after a set time,thus making it loads safer.

Тут главное что нибудь сляпать для видоса, а как будет работать это дело десятое. Вот упала мышь перед датчиком и будет её долбить пока она не поджарится, или катушка не перегреется и сгорит.

If you were going to separate the metal rods so they would not arc on their own BUT the rodent would close the circuit, 1) would you still need to have a relay to disable the HV generator? 2) the answer to the first Q leads to this: is there a simpler way to create something like this?

Hi, Could someone give me guidance regarding the type of pnp transistor that this circuit uses please? I am using what is described as a general purpose pnp transistor, ref' 2SA733 but I cannot get the unit to operate Also on the KZbin view there is a green coloured link between terminals 1 and 3 (common and rt hand coil connection) is this an internal link in the relay ( can't detect it using multimeter) or a link added during construction. I would be most grateful for your advice please Regards D
