I bought one last November since it was recommended by ATK for $19.45. It is very sharp and it makes such a difference when slicing. I love it. If u buy it make sure that you don't wash it in the dishwasher since any knife will maintain its sharpness for a long time when washed by hand. Happy cooking 😁

I found it's also great for slicing home-grown tomatoes so thin 1 will last all summer Haha. - and big tall sandwiches without smashing the innards out of them - use light pressure and let the knife do the work. Nothing worse than not having the tool you need, and it's only $15

I use raw honey instead of corn syrup in my millionaire's shortbread caramel. It started because once I didn't have corn syrup and was being too lazy to go to the store, but the taste is so delicious that I've done it that way every since!

Just baked this. Delicate and flavorful (only used 1/2 cup sugar, sweet enough for me). If you think you missed the part where they mentioned baking soda or baking powder, you didn’t. This cake is “crumbly” without needing leavener.

Been watching and enjoying this show for almost 20 years and as black female chef, super happy to finally start to see some diversity in the test cooks. Twenty years ago when I applied, there was none. It's about time. Good job, ATK.

Oh, la la! I am in Brittany (Bretagne) Watching a "gateau Breton" being made in the US ! You can get them plain (traditional), with an apricot filling, just like in Elle's recipe, but also with a raspberry or dried prunes filling. Elle is right: The filling consistency is very important; it should not be like jam. And this is a 'hefty' cake! Must say, not too many people here bother making it, since they are readily available in bakeries (and stores) and are most excellent. But... I will tell you, that I will follow Elle's recipe if I decide to actually make one!

Can the apricot layer be made with fresh apricots? I have a severe allergy (asthma) to the sulfur dioxide used in dried apricots and I don’t have asthma otherwise. "16 tbs of butter", how stupid is it to say that? You can say 8 ounces or 240 grams of butter so you can even inform the public that doesn't know rather than sound ignorant.
@Clefme
@Clefme 2 жыл бұрын
Your English is grammatically incorrect throughout your comment so perhaps you should look into that before complaining about someone’s ‘stupid’ usage. Also, using tablespoons as a unit of measurement for butter is perfectly acceptable in the States.

I have spent years watching you ladies on PBS cooking dishes from all over the world with the precision and attention to minute detail to explain why things work and why they can flop. I'm so thrilled to see the both of you back on...ermmm...TV(?)! Or internet or KZbin. Honestly, as long as I can watch you guys inspire me to cook/bake, I'm a happy camper. To illustrate how much I've missed you, the other day as I was working, the tv was on Hallmark Channel (I don't know who changed it from the He-Man channel I usually watch) and Home and Family was on air. During one of the segments I heard a voice I knew well and like a meerkat, my head lifted from my work and scanned my immediate horizon looking for that informative, very confident and often joke cracking voice and found to my squealing delight to see Bridget on set! It was a manly squeal, ok? Can't blame a foodie...lol
