It's great you promote natural "detergents", orerather cleaning agents. It's trully necessary. I know it's long gone but let me clarify with this small note: it's not juice nor sap, but decoction. It's good to remember that difference, especially for the newbies. Juice and sap have entirely different composistion and activity. Juice would be when expressed from leaves and usually it requires diluting. Sap would be when dropped from straight a trunk - like birch or maple sap or any other tree sap. Concentration in juices & saps is way higher than in this decoction. Anyway, all the best to all and cheers to beautiful ivy!😊💚

Thank you for this. I have a guinea pig who loves his duvets. I try to go natural with everything when it comes to my piggy. I made small pads from mattress covers and can see when he stains it. I have gone through various soaps and can't find one suitable for him. I use vinegar to help lift stains rather than bleach and it softens his duvets and keeps static down. I live in a very rural community on northern Vancouver Island, BC., Canada and we pay enormous prices for items lije laundry soap. Next laundry day I am trying this. I collected a garbage bag of ivy vines. My yard is full of it. I don't have to start my truck. Whew hoo. Can't wait for laundry day! Omg I need a life! Lol.

Thank you so much you two!! I have been using 'Reetha' (aka Indian soap nuts, from the zero waste store) and I just planted a Ceanothus [sapponin] tree in the front yard, but thanks to you, now I know that all that English Ivy in the backyard that I thought I hated can be used also:-) I call my saponin extracts 'washing water' rather than soap, because people expect the extract to look [and be-used] like our traditional fat based soaps. I find these saponin extracts to be very powerful for cleaning, when I use them on dishes they rinse off so easily, so I use less water, and there's never any water spots like regular soaps leave. Also as a laundry washing water, unless I'm washing whites, I don't even use a rinse cycle. Also, UC Berkeley did a study on plant growth and showed that gray water from all commercial detergents, even the so-called gray-water safe ones, will deter plant growth, but our saponin extracts will not negatively affect the growth of plants. So here in Southern California I can use reuse the washing water on my garden!

Everything is greener and healthier than ever! --- we did have a lot of rain this winter. I'm also using the 'Back to Eden' method with the chipper waste as mulch, and I'm sure a lot has to do with that as well. Regarding the washing water, I have gotten rid of most of my synthetics, because I don't want to be adding nanoplastics to my soil. So I'm wearing and washing mostly cotton. Best to you 🌱🍇🍏🌞

AMAZING! I am slightly freaking out right now about this! Lucky me I have massive amount of English ivy in my front yard here in western Canada. I guess there can be a benefit to an invasive species. That is Fantastic. You can also use that as a shampoo. I just made myself an ivy tea but I used only a handful of shredded leaves for my large thermos can. The tea tastes soapy but it has tons of health benefits. I also have been making myself over the years ivy water blends in the blender with cold water only and it creates this amazing beer looking juice with like a quarter of foam on the top. I use the foam as a super gentle face wash and also face mask and it works amazing it completely soothes and smoothes your skin and makes it moist and soft and even a bit oily it's absolutely amazing. I also want to make myself ivy skin creams in the future but for that I have to let the leaves dry first to prevent any mold. I had bad mold experiences in Germany when I started making skin creams haha. That's why I decided to never work with water for skin creams again. I made my friend Monika a cream and she called me up saying Nicola your cream grew large black hair hahahahaha. But for face soap, laundry soap, hand soap etc water is necessary.

@@harindervirk3810 There is another plant called Poison Ivy which is a completely different plant and not related to Ivy. Poison Ivy grows on the ground and slightly resembles the shape of Ivy leaves but touching those leaves causes blisters.

Wow this is amazing God gave us everything wow. I will look for this English Ivy plant to make my laundry soap because I am allergic to all the Washing powders. Just yesterday my sister told me that she got me a soap wort plant so I will soon be making my all natural shampoo. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏾

Fought the neighbor’s ivy for 25 years. Not a scrap to be found in this neighborhood, but I’m sure I can find some. Found soap nuts years ago, and last week found seeds for beauty berry that I’d gotten and forgotten last year or the year before. This is wonderful!

I love your videos!!! You are both so charming and knowledgeable - so glad I found you. I am learning to harvest and use Clevers and appreciated your video!! I also wanted to mention from this video on Ivy soap. Do you know that the plate you use to cover the pot is in fact a collectible from The Bradford Exchange?? I believe it belongs to a set of wild cat designs and is for wall art mostly so not sure it is color safe or toxing safe to eat on. Wishing you many more blessings to come!!
