Art Resin is the only resin i use. To me it's the best, I can sit at my dinning room table and do my coasters. I have discovered that putting lights in my coasters is a big hit for people who sit around the campfire at night. And they are beautiful with the lights. Thank you so much Art Resin for your product.

Hello, I’ve used painters tape for everything that’s a pour, be it resin or acrylic paint pours.When you use tape for resin pours or even paint pours and it runs over or if you use your fingers to spread, if you wait for a minute or two after you pour you can use a toothpick or a flat stick and scrape the drippy off and you will have less or no problem peeling off the tape. You can also use a heat gun on low to heat up the resin and it also helps to remove your tape. That’s just what I do. 🙏🏼🤗

@Artresin4 жыл бұрын
ArtResin conforms to ASTM D4236, meaning it is certified as safe for home use and non-toxic when used as directed, however there are some safety precautions that every user should follow: Wear gloves. ArtResin is very sticky in its liquid form, so gloves will protect the user from a mess, as well as skin irritation. Clean skin promptly with soap and water if it does come in contact with ArtResin. If ArtResin somehow comes in contact with your eyes, flush with water repeatedly and do not rub. Promptly seek medical attention. Work in a well ventilated area. Wear a respirator if ventilation is poor. See our blog for further information: www.artresin.com/blogs/artresin/what-safety-precautions-should-i-take-when-using-artresin For detailed health information, please see the ArtResin SDS. www.artresin.com/pages/sds

Hi xx when I use the site pigment it drops to the bottom just leaving big white dote xx can you help xxxx
@Artresin4 жыл бұрын
Our Ink Sinker is unique because it's heavier than most. This means that it has the ability to drive the alcohol ink down into the resin. Typically the ratio is 1:2 .... 1 drop of white per 2 drops of color and you want to drop the white Ink Sinker onto the color so it drives the color down into the resin. As long as you remember to follow the colored alcohol ink drops with Ink Sinker, there's no right or wrong. Keep in mind that the more white you add, the more the ink will sink to the bottom: too much white and you'll get more white dots on the bottom of your coaster/piece.

I love all this information. I haven't made anything yet, but what I would like to do is pour a 6x6 inch square, and paint on the top of it. Do you know if this has been done before? I like the ideal of seeing through the piece. Then I would probably then like to try using the art resin tint to go along with the acrylic paints that I choose. Do you think the acrylic paints will stick, and then what should I use as a sealant for the paint? I hope you can help me. Thank you so much.

Another trick we use is to remove the piece from the mold at around the 12-18 hour mark and to let it continue to cure outside of the mold.

May I ask when doing 2 coats on mound coaster can the resin be different colors and noticeable? Thank you.
@Artresin2 жыл бұрын
Hi Beth, Yes! You can change the color of the resin for each pour. We recommend doing some small test pours to see how you like the different effects. If you pour translucent colors, they will show differently one layer to another versus if you're using opaque colors.

I just started with silicone mold if u use mica powder do u start from the bottom up or not also when I pulled my coaster out of mold the edges curved up what can I do to avoid that
@Artresin5 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike - there's really no right or wrong when making coasters. You might find that the pearl separates and sinks to the bottom so you can either wait until the resin thickens a little bit before you pour into your mold or you can stir the resin in the mold occasionally to prevent it from settling at the bottom. Experiment to see what you like best. As far as the edges curving up ... it is normal to experience a slight concave edge. This is easily fixed by either trimming the edges when the resin is dry to the touch ( and still soft enough to trim ) or when the resin is fully cured you can sand the edges with a dremel tool or sander and applying a thin coat of resin mixture to restore the gloss.

Can you slush cast the outside of a mould in black resin before adding anything in the middle? I imagine so but i want to ask the question anyway
@Artresin4 жыл бұрын
Hi Shannon, We don't use that technique however - in theory, it would work if you somehow attached a hollow mold to the rotisserie spinner and let it spin until cured. Now please keep in mind that ArtResin has a 24 hours cure time to the touch and 72 hours for a full cure :)

Excellent !!!I always love your videos. I have your resin and the tip about warming it before is great. We have now low temperatures so is good to know these details. Other thing is that I never have worked with alcohol ink, I love the effects!! . Im going to try it, I am glad that I hear that I can't use the torch, that could be bad!!! . Thank you for the comparison with the three techniques of sealing, I didn't know that can be different each one .Question: 1.- There is any place where we can look to see the exact amount of resin we need for each size of project? . 2.- You also mentioned that we can sand the rough corners, but when we do so, is no shine anymore so what we should do? . Thank you for the step by step process. I personally appreciate it very very much !!
@Artresin6 жыл бұрын
Adriana, your comment made my day - thank you! I'm so happy you found the video helpful and that you learned some new information :) As far as how much resin to use - we do have our calculator on our website, although that isn't really designed for circular pieces, but it can give you a rough idea for the layered coasters. For the coasters in the molds, honestly, we just eyeballed it, based on how thick we wanted to pour. Yes, you can sand down the corners, and to restore the shine, simply mix up a small batch of resin and hardener and apply with a gloved finger or a disposable foam brush, much in the same way that I restored the gloss on the square piece that had been in the matte mold. Thanks again for watching! ❤️

What is the alternative of torch if we don't have torch?

Is there a project that in involves a deep pour resin mold?
@Artresin11 ай бұрын
ArtResin was initially designed to be a sealant and poured at an 1/8th of an inch in depth. We do have artists that use our product for pouring deeper than an an 1/8th of an inch but they achieve this by doing multiple pours. You can go up to 1/4 inch in your pour and would suggest you use a torch to help pop any bubbles you may have. You can layer ArtResin epoxy resin in multiple coats, as high as you'd like, as long as you pour in 1/8" increments. You have two choices when pouring multiple layers: the first is to pour your first layer, torch out the bubbles, cover and wait 3-5 hours until your ArtResin epoxy resin reaches a jelly like stage. At this point, you can pour on your next 1/8" layer, torch out bubbles, cover, wait 3-5 hrs and repeat until you reach the height you desire. This method is especially handy when pouring into a mold or a dam. The second option is to allow your first layer to fully dry, then give the overall piece a light sanding and pour on your next 1/8" layer. Torch out bubbles, cover and let this layer dry. Repeat these steps as many times as you'd like. Keep in mind that our recommendation of a 72hr cure time is based on a 1/8" layer. The thicker your layers are, the longer the cure time will be. It could take up to 10 days for a full cure, depending on how many layers you've poured.
