What a brilliant little video! She tells us how to do it without resorting to all the unnecessary gabbling that most KZbinrs indulge in. Thank you, I'm going to start covering all my boxes!

@@ElaineCuzner Elaine, I really love your work and creativity -it’s a pleasure to even watch you! Question: What kind of glue did you use when making the pink, quilted-top box? It was beautiful but I couldn’t make out the name of the glue (the one in the white, plastic jar with the brush). I make boxes similar to yours but the type of glue that I use penetrates the fabric. Thank you for you time and patience. PS: You have elegant hands.

@@ruizbrothersforever3543 Hi George. OK so I use COPYDEX for sticking fabric. You don`t need to use a lot, and spread it with the brush rather than having thick blobs. Sometimes it will soak through the fabric, but don`t worry because it will dry clear!

Very pretty, but I would definitely want to line the inside too. I think the same method, without allowing for folding over the top, would give me a nice lining. Have you done that?

@ElaineCuzner7 жыл бұрын
Awuita Ah I need to do another video for that. In the meantime how about using a thin coat of acrylic paint before you do the outside. You could get some tester pots of emulsion which would probably be fine and also cheaper 😃

Hello Elaine... Quick question... Is that a 1/4" seam you used to box the corners???
@ElaineCuzner3 жыл бұрын
Hi Margarita. No I just take a normal 5/8 th seam, but if youre used to quilting you could use a narrower one
@triciapotter33313 жыл бұрын
I tried copydex as the glue gun is "lumpy". However, I wish I hadn't bothered it makes a smelly mess of fabric. I have devised a new method and hand finish underneath and inside. A perfect fit, a little glue gun in the corners -avoid copydex yuk.
@relevant_nebula3 жыл бұрын
Could you tell me the name of the fabric glue please? Would white PVA glue work?

Couldn't the bottom of the box be covered the same way as the top, sewing the corners and then dropping the box in and turning over the top. The boxes look lovely anyway.
@ElaineCuzner7 жыл бұрын
Hi Sheila. Yes of course you could do it that way, but it would be more difficult for a beginner sewer to machine a much longer straight line. If they went off a bit and the seam became narrower then the box would not drop in. Glad you like it!

Putting a weight in the lid would eliminate the need for someone to hold it in place.
