Thankyou! Can you do a video on .3mf files? I am just learning to make my own designs and it seems 3mf is the way to go over .step?
@RobSandstromDesigns26 күн бұрын
Good tutorial. If I followed correctly in F360 by the time it was done you had a perfectly flat top with the different colors by the sequence of extrudes you did. I may ave missed a step. You exported to a STP fil instead of an STL ir directly to the Bambuu Slizer. If you had exported directly via 3D printing to the Bambu Slizer would you have lost the ability to apply the filament colors by selecting them with a component the way you did? In short, do you always export as STEP fil and go to Bambu Printer vs. STL?

I put my friend's baby's face and name on one. If you watch over the print, when it starts to fill the text after 0.5mm (in my example below) do a color change, let it complete the layers to fill in the text, then switch back to the first filament and your text will be another color. Use a PEO print bed plate and it can be smooth like glass and if you get one with a hologram in the print bed, it'll be on the coaster.

Interesting, When I follow your process (step by step), the "image" (in your case the TB) when laid flat on the build plate is backwards.

So I'm having issues with the extrusion. I finally get it to look right but the design is still raised above the rest of the print. The top layer isn't flat. What am I missing?

Hi doing everything exactly like you say but for some reason when I select the -4 I get a lip not a solid block it is see thru with a -4 side edge if this makes sense not sure why I have tried over and over it just won't go solid only a lip :( help and the colorful design is higher on the top and not flat how will that work for a coaster for things to sit on? what am I doing wrong here?

Great video - but the issue I'm having is after you've created the 'back' component (with the whole selection) I'm unable to then select the individual areas (ie. the letters etc.) - the whole thing gets selected.
@traj005 күн бұрын
I'm having the same situation. Maybe because the newer versions have changed a step that isn't covered in this video.
@CitizenChaz5 күн бұрын
@@traj00 Yeah, you have to spin the whole thing around once you’ve extruded the ‘Back’. You can then select the individual sections as shown. It’s not pointed out on the video but that works. Hope that helps!

Im still missing how you made the logo flush to the surface of the coaster. did i miss that?

Extra use everything by 1mm to make it flush

Everything works great up until I turn the sketch view off to check everything. For some reason my logo is still visible with sketch view off and when I print it there is a small gap between the colors , it’s not blending . Any info would be a huge help!

I have followed step to step. But when I reach 6:00, I cannot select the logo. I went over this several times and it's always the same. If I were to flip to the back of the component, I can select the individual parts. I cannot figure out why.

Why do you create / print face down. New to 3d printing, some experience with laser engraving and CNC work
@sloansexner10082 ай бұрын
I followed your exact steps but it seems no matter how simple the file I choose the SVG file has too many bodies/points and is causing program to freeze. It throws an error due to too many points/bodies? Anyone else having this issue and how did you resolve it? How to reduce to amount of bodies/points? is this done prior to bringing the image into F360 at the converter level?
@h3rbski8394 ай бұрын
tutorial seems to work great apart from a few things unless im doing something wrong? when i extrude the back at -4mm but then extrude the svg at 1mm it sticks out of the back of the model at 1mm i have to them extrude the back again at 1mm to make it flush, does this make sense? ive tried to follow it step by step but this keeps happening
@Ryanlit4 ай бұрын
Try reversing to -1
@steveohim21 күн бұрын
same here, this tutorial doesn't work
@h3rbski83921 күн бұрын
@@steveohim works great for me now and ive made around 40 coasters using this method. I found just do as the tut says then at the end you need to go back to the first layer you made and extrude it by 1mm and select join instead of new body, it will then be flush
@blackline676 ай бұрын
Nice video. But what if i want it flat,so text is at rhe same level as back?
@Ryanlit6 ай бұрын
This is face down so everything is flat. It prints flat.
@jawknee212 ай бұрын
@Ryanlit why do different thicknesses for each color then? I think I'm misunderstanding something
@scottturner8645 ай бұрын
So I'm assuming you have AMS on your Banbu printer. What if you don't have an AMS option, how would you do this with a single extruder printer? z hop?
@jawknee212 ай бұрын
Pause and manual color change. Z-hop is something the printer does during printing to avoid hitting the print
@marsrocket7 ай бұрын
Leaving it flat and coloring it in the slicer is easier
@Ryanlit6 ай бұрын
I like to color in fusion to confirm I like how it looks it’s an optional step. However it’s always good to label components so you can paint by object in the slicer
@steveohim21 күн бұрын
I have followed this EXACTLY but when you get to 5:58 I cannot select any letters
@SteveInScotland4 ай бұрын
Wait! We raised up the logo in f360, then we flipped it over in the slicer. Thats not flat though, its just printing that raised section on the bed, the rest is hovering one layer up. That doesn't seem right. I'm not saying it won't "melt" together. It may work but its technically incorrect. I'm printing now so if it looks ok, I guess the answer is, don't worry, be happy, lol
@SteveInScotland4 ай бұрын
Yeah, it was not happy printing in mid-air and I ended up with a failed print. Print it the right way up and it’s fine but useless as a coaster as the image is raised up.
@Ryanlit4 ай бұрын
It’s only floating when you failed to extrude everything forward.

I as well, can not get the TB to highlight where I can choose the colors. I think I get lost at the -4mm extrusion part. I extrude it to -4mm but it sends the TB to the back of the coaster I can see it through the side profile in the sketch. The TB is at the very back of the round plate and I can see the TB but is in the rear or back of the coaster but will only allow the whole circle to be highlighted. When I flip the coaster to the back the TB can be highlighted but only a few of the lines will highlight purple and not the interior of the letter. I have extruded the parts of the TB 1mm and -1mm to see the difference on your video it clearly shows a raised portion of the TB but mine is not Raised off the coaster. When you extrude the Part to -4mm it sends the TB to the back through the coaster. I have tried to do 4mm and it shows a raised logo but still will not allow me to highlight the individual parts of the TB to color it. I have followed your video 20 times and paused it in between to try to see your settings and figure out where I may be doing something wrong. Please clarify what to click on to extrude. This seems really straightforward but I have been missing a simple process most likely.. Was a great tutorial by the way.. Just lost Anyone please chime in as well too.. Truly appreciate the assistance..

To extrude you click “E” on the key board if the extrude is going in the wrong direction there is I small icon in the extrude windows that shows an arrow. I believe on the bottom left of the extrude window you can click and it will reverse positive and negative

Does anyone know why I can't get the image on the front. It keeps loading on the back . Been trying all day. -4 on first extrude. Then +1 on all colors afterwards. Please someone help
@davidgallant25456 ай бұрын
This appears to be a sketch orientation issue as I had the same results initially. Instead of using Front for the initial sketch plane, use Top and perform the same steps outlined in Ryan's video. Not a Fusion expert to describe why, but I could see the SVG attaching to the back of the extrusion with the Front orientation.

Ok, might be a stupid question but why won’t my cursor change and allow me to choose the sections to colour after unhiding the Sketch layer? I’ve named the Back part and then unhide the Sketch but it won’t let me click on the parts I want to colour… please help 😮

@horrorshow216 ай бұрын
@@lxxBassheadxxl I think you are running into an issue I also ran into. He his not using the default axis orientation, if you look at around 2:10 you will see his vertical axis is Y, i believe the default is Z (it was on mine anyway, maybe mine's not the default) what happens is all the extrusion measurements he does you need to do in reverse. So if he does -4mm you need to do 4mm, etc. This should leave you with the "image" on the front, instead of the back.

@jiaj19854 ай бұрын
Why is mine reversed? Your -4 is my +4. I went back and redid everything the same but its always the other way around.
@Ryanlit4 ай бұрын
There is a little arrow next to where you type -4. Click that and it will reverse. Also make sure your doing it on the front plane view and not back

I could do this in my sleep. Fusion seems intimidating... it's not. It's you over thinking it. Coasters are simple. Find the logo you want. Convert it to SVG file format. Open fusion, create sketch on bottom plane, make a circle to the size you want the coaster, insert your logo svg, align it the way you want. Finish the sketch. Select inside the circle and leave the logo unselected. Extrude up 0.5mm. Select the area of the extruded body. Create a sketch. Make another circle over the first circle. Finish sketch. Extrude up 4.5mm. Select the top surface. Create a sketch. Make a circle about 20mm so that the edge of the circle aligns with the edge of the part. Select the circle and then select under "Create" menu, "Circular Pattern". New menu pops up. Click "Axis". Select the middle point of part. It should automatically create three circles symmetrically around the part. Finish sketch. Select all three circles. Extrude them up 3mm. Send to print. Congratulations, you have made a drink coaster.
