How to make Facebook Messenger more secure

Some people have seen the article going around Facebook about the changes made to Facebook and the messenger. That seemed to scare a lot of people. those permissions are there for your benefit so you can have access to cool features; not so Facebook can spy on you or abuse your trust. That said, it is still scary to some people. If you want to use the Facebook app and/or Facebook Messenger, but don't want to give access to all your info to Facebook, here are the instructions to turn off the things most people are worried about. I hope this helps everyone.
P.S. Sorry about the low sound. I had my waterproof case on and it makes everything sound like crap. Forgot to take it off for the video.

Although I do not have an iPhone I was able to find similar settings to shut off access by messenger to mic and camera, thank you.

Question: If I turn off Background Refresh for Facebook, would I still get notifications as and when it happens straight away or would Facebook only refresh once I go back into it and refresh it myself?

No matter what i do to log out or change my passwords. My iphone logs me straight into messenger or facebook without requiring a password! Basically I can't log out!
