tomhess.net/Speed The fastest way to increase your speed on guitar is to synchronize your two hands perfectly. Here’s how to do that, and here’s what we’ll cover in this guitar speed lesson [...]
The key to building your guitar speed is synchronizing your two hands together. With the RIGHT guitar technique, 2-hand sync isn’t very difficult. However, with the wrong techniques, building speed on the guitar will always be difficult.
In this guitar speed lesson video, I teach you 2 super techniques you can use right now to get your hands in sync so that you can build the guitar speed to want.
Playing guitar fast isn’t rocket science, it doesn’t require natural talent, genetics, or lots of daily practice time. What it does require is learning the right techniques and then practicing them in the right way. It’s THAT simple.
So, grab your guitar and watch the video at least THREE times to fully absorb everything I teach you. Then use the advice in this video and build your speed on the guitar. Let’s go!

One of the best guitar lessons I've seen so far ! Simple and to the point. No superfluous talk and absolutely goal-oriented. He tells you exactly what and why it should be done and what benefit this approach brings. Tom Hess is a totally professional guitar teacher Thank you Tom Hess👍

Most guitarists really do underestimate the importance of getting both hands perfectly in sync with each other. Thanks for the great reminder, Tom Hess!

Thanks, Tom! This is perfect timing....lol, no pun intended. Makes perfect logic to lift in order to synchronize. Obviously, you won't do that for trills, but what about legato? How do you approach that?

Hi Tom I was wondering if you and Mike could have a podcast 😀 or video on which way to hold the guitar pick is best I have been using your way and switching back and forth between the 2 methods I have never dropped a pick and both ways work for me ,I haven't played in 40 years and I am in week number 5 with a long journey left i just don't want to pick up a habit that could hurt my abilities down the road ,thanks Tom for all your free videos and suggestions it has helped a lot thanks.maybe theres people out there with the same issues as me deciding on what pick grip to stick with cause honestly both seem to work the pen grip method definitely gets me more playing time 🙃 the usual method does seem to give a little joint and muscle pain after a 45 min 🏃‍♂️ run but both seem to work 🤔 thanks again

great to see an updated version of this awesome lesson of yours! however it's 2 actions on the fretting hand , one finger on one finger off the frethand and 1 action is to pick.

I have already trying that for a view weeks. And I tell you, that you are absolutely right, but there is a negative side effect occurs. My fingers starting to move to far from the fretboard (or people call it flying fingers). Please solve my problem 🙏🙏

Hi Jeffrey, flying fingers is not a side effect, it's just a different problem that seems to happen for you. Check out my flying fingers video to fix it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5arhZh5gbNgqJI

Tom, do you use two-way pick slanting (Troy Grady method) when you go from one string to the other when you're not picking down-down or up-up? For example, do you use a downward pick slant when going from an upstroke on the D string to a downstroke on the G string? And then using an upward pick slant when going from a down stroke on the G string to an upstroke on the D string? Thanks!
@tomhessmusiccorp
@tomhessmusiccorp Жыл бұрын
Hi Steve. The term I use to describe what you are talking about is the pick tilt, not slant. When people hear the word slant, they often confuse that word with pick angle. I'm not saying that "you" are confused, I'm just making the point for others who may read this. To answer your question directly, no, I do not tilt my pick one way when ascending and a different way when descending.
