I need to re-band my slingshot but have no smaller therabands to attach the larger therebands to the forks at the moment. Could I use some regular rubber bands I have around the house that are around the same width, or would you recommend buying some more? Just wondering if they’ll stay on as well or not. John, my draw is 97.79cm that would give me an active band length of 17.78 cm. What taper would u use for 9.5 steel? Any idea what kind of fps that would generate? Sounds like a long power stroke! Skull cracka!

As a newbie, and seeing that measurements for preferred tapers are so exact - does it matter that the way you cut those bands, one side of each individual band is slightly longer than the other side? Maybe I'm being too fussy but it's something that's really bugging me.

If you have one side of the band even half a mm longer it’s going to throw your shots off over long distance. I know this was commented over a year ago and you know that by now, just wanted to say it anyways

@@chucknorris2938 Thanks, but I don't think you get what I'm saying. I'm not on about one section of banding, from frame to pouch, being longer than the other one. If you look at the rectangle of elastic before it is cut, the long edge is X millimetres. When the steel rule is placed on this at an angle the cut will be longer than X millimetres. So, you will end up with a band (or 2 bands if double cut as in the video) which has a fractionally unequal lengths to its 2 longer edges. This discrepancy can alter the favoured 'taper' just as much as if the short ends were measured a millimetre or 2 shorter. As I say, perhaps I'm being a bit fussy here, but if you're taking millimetres it makes as difference. BTW, all I've learnt in the last year is that I should stick to my air rifle.

@@chucknorris2938 Yes, both bands are identical and I guess that's what really matters. I think when I first got into this I was being a bit hyper-critical and trying to analyse it too much. Should have just concentrated on using the damn thing, lol.
