Awesome easy recipe! This is REALLY GOOD, so while it's awesome survival bread, you can enjoy it anytime. If you're not stuck out in the woods, toss a bit of salt into it - and when you're rolling the dough, smear a bit of ghee or butter on it, fold it, roll it, and repeat a few times. Give is a bit of layering that's tremendous.

@LoneStarPrepping24 күн бұрын
I believe naan is a leavened flat bread with yeast and or yogurt. This bread is not leavened. The point is to use as little ingredients as possible, as a survival bread. But, if you eat it regulary, sure, add whatever you want!
@RTAV10821 күн бұрын
@@LoneStarPreppingyes, the dough with yogurt is for naan n paratha, becomes very hard once cool. This flatbread dough shown in this video with just wheat flour is the household roti dough, flatbread made with this doesn't get dry or hard even for 2 days at room temperature. Just apply a shortening like butter or ghee and store the stack like tortillas in an airtight container. You will find it as moist and chewy as the day before.

I make something like this with freshly ground biodynamic wheat. I add pink Himalayan salt, and real, quality olive oil just like they would have in Bible times. Beautiful to eat. Very satisfying and super healthy. When I eat them regularly, my heart behaves itself. Just like the Bible says, wheat for the heart of man. Too long without this nutritious food, and I get palpitations. There are obviously a lot of vital nutrients in the wheat that we don't get in processed flour. If we went back to real, non hybrid/ gmo wheat/ foods, and got iodine back in our diets, there would be a LOT of unemployed doctors!!

@LoneStarPreppingАй бұрын
I dont know. I plan to try this with freshly milled flour soon, though. I imagine freshly milled and store bought WW flour, will need a little more water, and I would let the flour sit hydrated for at least 20 minutes to an hour first.
@RTAV10821 күн бұрын
For that, just remove 3-4 table spoon water from the 1 part water as shown here. That's it. This is how Indian flat bread is being made in every household every single day since millenia. The ratio is - 40-45% water to whole wheat flour ie 2 parts water to 3 parts flour. Depends on wheat variety of your local produce. You will get it right with the feel of it. Works best when you let the dough rest for a couple of hours. The stickiness totally goes away when the dough is well rested. Do try it. That's why any Indian household lady will start cooking by first mixing the dough and then doing other side-dishes and rice. By the time other cooking is done, dough is rested and the rotis are made in the end so that fresh hot flat breads/rotis are on everyone's plate :) It's healthy without any yeast or vinegar or salt or literally anything being added to it. Just the natural taste of your country's local wheat ❤

@LoneStarPrepping Жыл бұрын

@priyasophi9 ай бұрын
Right...we make this daily 2-3 times in every household in north India (south India uses rice more)...this is called roti or chapati. It is eaten with vegetable curry. If you add some clarified butter (ghee) at the last stage, it becomes a plain parantha. And...you can actually stuff salted and spiced veggie mix (any of boiled potato, grated cauliflower, grated radish etc) while making the dough ball and rolling it gently...then shallow fry in clarified butter to make delicious and healthy parantha. That way it is eaten with pickles or tea/coffee. The most important thing in making great chapati's is to knead the dough well...knead for 5 mins...leave for 10 mins...knead again for 5 mins...

You have shown such a wonderful demonstration of homemade flatbread. ❤😊 If you've gas burner, you can go 1 step ahead - 1 ] Flatten the bread with the rolling pin as thin as possible, then 2 ] After placing the bread in the pan, wait for bubbles to appear, 3 ] then lift the bread with a metal tong, remove the pan from the flame with the other hand and flip the flatbread upside down directly onto the flame, 4 ] in just 2 seconds it will blow like a balloon, then flip it once or twice on the flame to get cooked a couple of seconds each side, then it's done! It's called 'phulka'. ❤ The science is, the moisture in the lower layer of the bread immediately vapourises after touching the flame and it creates air pocket as it can not escape, that makes the bread blow up round!
