Thanks Trustin, just love simple things! I add a little olive oil to my mix, 1/8 cup oil to 2 cups flour, mixes up great without the sticky mess for easy clean up. Tastes good too. A little maple sugar in the mix is also a favorite. Thanks again! Take care.

Finally got around to trying this. Great idea about keeping the flour on the sides of the bowl. And I love how creative you can get the ingredients. Snuck a few chocolate chips in to mine this morning!!!!!

Food always tastes better outdoors ! Have not been to a grocery store for 9 days and plan not to until I absolutely have to. Curious about the trees that you harvest and build with, that your wife's grandparents planted. What kind are they ?
@TrustinTimber4 жыл бұрын
They have planted over 15 or so species. The 4 major trees are White Pine, Norway Spruce, Larch, and Walnut. We usually hang out in the pines.

New sub, Alexis sent me. Funny story on this subject. My kids where knee high, It's Sunday morning and mama wants to sleep in. The kids want me to make pancakes like mama. So I get the cook book out and somehow every time I see the word "Baking powder" I'm thinking Arm and Hammer baking soda. So that's what I used. Cakes were a little thinner but the kids loved them. So over a year goes by and I always used the Baking soda. One day the kids want my pancakes and Mama is watching me work and making a mess. I grab the backing soda and she say's WTF are you doing? I say: Just like the recipe says!!!! She says: Show me! So I get the cook book and show her. She says: read it out loud which I did. I said baking powder and my brain said Arm and hammer baking soda. We stand there staring at each and we both have a smirk on our face. She says: Read it out loud again which I do with the same mental result. She grabs a little can out of the cupboard with a Indian head on it that says backing powder and sets it next to my box of arm and hammer. Do you see a difference she say's? I was crushed and the kids were hungry. So I made them her way and both my kids said they liked the old way that Daddy made them better. WIN! WIN! Mama threw her hands in the air and poured a cup of coffee and decided it wasn't worth it and went back to bed to drink her coffee. Actually I haven't tried making them this way in over 40 years but tonight's the night. LOL Enjoyed your vid and will checkout some more. Sorry for the ramble . I'm sometimes told my story's are in poor taste.....

The four basic ingredients of basic bread are exactly as you have them. It makes good bread. From there on - it gets even better! Powdered milk can be added. Crumbled bacon. Garlic, rosemary, thyme, etc. I get stoneground whole wheat flour. Sweeten with raw honey. Is it any better? Probably, but I’ m not 100% certain. Only about 95% to 99%. Maple syrup is a good dip for warm breads too. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

@TrustinTimber4 жыл бұрын
probably, give it a go and let me know.

Self rising flour is just regular flour plus baking powder plus salt.

If you are and emergency prepper the best bang for your buck in terms of calories per dollar spent is flour, bannock is an easy to cook food with high calories for your daily needs.

Cannot wait to try this. Going to have a go at it later today if it doesn’t rain. Really would love to know, what canteen is this youre using?! I need one but can only find the Keith kit for $150usd. So expensive!

I have a Keiths kit and they are awesome but I usally use the Kleen canteen because they fit better in my bag side pouch. I thnik they are $30.

Yes! I went to Sam’s yesterday and they only allowed me to buy 1 loaf for FOUR people. Normally they have a pack of two loaves but they separated them! Lame. I do know how to bake and plan to if needed. Might try this recipe too, thanks!!
