Yes, if you don't understand what you're saying, or don't feel confident about it, you won't feel confident about speaking. So you should practice first with lots of varied input that helps you understand the language like a native. Then speak. :)

Something confused me after watching this video. In other video about fluency the teacher said that good way to get fluent is to for example choose one word and understand how to use it in a different situations. So you can use this word in a different topics. But there is another idea in this video. That you have to choose situation and learn different variants of saying something. Where did i get wrong?
