Outstanding attention to detail from all of you. I have been building for 40 years and have always had a goal to produce the most quality craftsmanship build in the industry. I can see that you run youR company with the same mind set. I love it when I see other builders that love what they do, do it right and care about the clients investment. OUTSTANDING WORK!

Nick I'm telling you... You and you're guys are second to none. Doesn't mean that some other builders may be 'as good' as you are, but I'll say it again; you are second to NOBODY. I watched this video after seeing your video about making cabinets where you did that small vanity. I've actually been retired for a few years now and have been recently purchasing shop equipment so I can start building cabinets and vanities and whatever else I feel inclined to build. I absolutely love and admire the detail you and your guys go to in order to deliver an exceptional product to your clients. Although I've been subscribed for a while now, I just noticed I had forgotten to activate the bell; I've corrected that issue at this point. ;-))

@@NSBuilders plenty of people are custom rabbiting base so they can cram a reglet into it to limit movement to 1 direction? Plenty of people think about what sort of epoxy to use? Plenty of people notch metal door jambs to create a continuous detail through a door? I'm no expert in this space but I've never seen anything like what you guys put out. You do amazing work. Suggest a few modifications to your details. Cut the door jamb flange off below the base reveal including plaster bump. (not structual / allows wood base install after plastering). Saw cut in base should change to a rabbit 3/8" in ht / cut aluminum base flange down for 1/4" ear past bottom of reveal. (still get the floating reveal effect.) Changes allow base install after plaster work / base material could be say finish maple. Love the channel!

What's not clear on this is the phase of the install of the base board. Traditionally, as we know, we drywall -> install flooring -> baseboard. While I love the wiggle room the saw cut provides in the baseboard for the reglet to slide into. How the baseboard installed after the flooring?? Are you doing the flooring first, then finishing the drywall? Would be a nightmare to fix that baseboard down the road if that's the case.

Does the epoxy completely isolate against galvanic action as well? Not sure if this is a consideration for this application, but in aircraft structures, that steel to aluminum interface is a huge no-no. Curious if this is one of the advantages of using the epoxy to bring everything together. If not, have you had any experience with blistering or any filiform corrosion popping up over time? Always awesome content and so much pride in solving problems that are created from pushing the limits. I laughed at the "keeping up with the Jones' comment" because innovative work like yours is exactly what creates an opportunity for new materials, processes and implementations to be possible. I know you're proud of your whole team, as you should be. Thanks for all you contribute.

Crazy complicated details - takes skill and $$$ to do it. Curious why you rely on epoxy rather than a mechanical fastener like screws to attach the base to the door frame? What sort of epoxy did you use? I really like how you get into the weeds on the details.

Great detail. Down here in south Louisiana I don’t see walls being plastered. It doesn’t matter if it’s a $100k house or $1M house they all use gypsum board so I’m not very familiar with what the advantages would be to go your route. Is it just for this detail or something you always do for some reason such as: something that is environmental based (does better in your climate), a pure esthetic preference, etc.

Plastering has a number of advantages. These are the ones I can think of in no particular order: 1. Entire wall is smooth. With regular joint compound when you cover butt-joints, it's impossible to make it seamless... You just try to smooth out the bump over a larger area so it's less visible. Nothing like this with plastering. And details like in this video would look horrible without plaster. 2. It's a lot more durable. Regular drywall is just paper with foam board underneath. Plaster is like a thin layer of "cement".

Colored veneer plaster finish, spoon rubbed is gorgeous. Google that. Drywall is spec home.

It's the area. we have tons of plasterers, so we do tons of plastering. It's a higher end finish because it's a lot like masonry . Also, it mechanically just moves along more smoothly in our New England building practices No going back and sanding . Etc... We actually don't really have an abundance of drywall companies in residential construction available to even call on , that kind of work is mostly done in commercial const..
