Fantastic to see another proper builder. I love fixing bodge jobs. Been out of the game for a year now fixing someone's bodge job. A very heavy steal door. Through me up in the air and I landed on my shoulder and cracked a rib too.. 😂😂😂😂. Got it fixed though. Please keep posting the good content god bless

Great craftsmanship, would it be easier to offset the plastering in the beginning by the shadow gap strip compared to grinding it out after?
@yesconstructionltd9 ай бұрын
Thank you for the suggestion. I thought about it and in the end I decided that it will be easier to install the frame with full plaster being in place. Cutting out the strip was a bit messy but precise. After I finished and now I am looking at it, I think that next time I will try to do the way you say. Thank you for engaging 😉 I am preparing for the next video. Same effect on a partition wall. Hopefully I'll see you there.

Could you use thicker timber and cut a rebate along the face edge to give you your shadow gap?
@yesconstructionltd9 ай бұрын
Hi I could, but then we still have the gap between the frame and the wall and we have no architrave to cover it. 🤔 I did a lot of thinking on this and I came to the conclusion that this would be the best way. I will upload another video soon with a shadow gap around the frame on a partition wall-much easier

Could you not finish the aperture using stop beads as usual and then rebate the front edge of the frame before installing it?
@yesconstructionltd9 ай бұрын
Hi This is exactly what I did if you watch carefully
@Binbag10109 ай бұрын
Then you really didn't need to cut around the opening and add plasterboard strips, if your aperture was level and plumb and you added board beads to the face of the opening before installing the frame you wouldn't need to cut anything away from the walls, or do you think the finish is better by butting around the frame?
@yesconstructionltd9 ай бұрын
@@Binbag1010 Now, after it's done I think the best way is to leave the 100 mm around the frame open, install the frame and add the board with the stop bid. The reason why you need it to be open is to be able to push the wages in and expanding foam. After the foam is cured, cut the wages, clean it all up and add the plasterboard with a stop bid. Then fill or plaster around it. I think that this is the best way. Another video is in the making. Same principle but on a partition wall.

@@Binbag1010 To make it simpler, avoiding cutting out is the key. Saves a lot of mess and dust, so while boarding the wall leaving the 100 mm around the frame empty. I think that's the best.

@@yesconstructionltd Its a good concept in any case - i like the shadow gap, its different from tradition in the U.K. It would be great if there was a way of lighting the shadow gap essentially turning it into a light gap. I suspect this would be difficult as the lighting strips would somehow need to be accessible in case they need changing.

I'm looking for the comment about lighting up the shadow gaps 🤓

Ha, ha. Yes, we are living in an era where the LED strip goes everywhere, where possible 😁 I think that could look good in some art studio, night club, public places, but not at home 😉 This is only my taste but everyone is different

Looks good , going to be a horrible place for dirt to get trapped
@yesconstructionltd9 ай бұрын
It might be. The gap is 12mm deep so definitely will be difficult to clean.
