Keep in mind if you don't have a Sport Trac that it might be the same but depending on the year and model of your ford truck/SUV that the location may vary but it is still the same system so just play around with it, nothing on these trucks are irreversible, everything can be fixed. Doug Wainwright they set it up this way because most started have a law regarding the number of lights you can have on the front of a vehicle, excluding markers that don't help visibility( turn indications, roof lights on larger trucks, etc...) usually that is 4 lights max. Low beams count as 2 and fogs count as 2, a majority of high beam bulbs have dual filaments so they count as 4 by themselves meaning the fogs technically cannot be on with them to adhere to the laws even if they are total BS

it really does piss me off how manufacturers do stupid shit like making the fog lights turn off with the high beams...i like having all the lights on for maximum visibility especially since i live in the country have to watch out for stupid ass deer, i wonder can this trick work on cars like honda's toyota's etc?

Hey Jes, good question. I assume this would be a 1997 Explorer or Ranger that we’re talking about here. I do believe that they used a very similar layout to this 01 Sport Trac so check to take a look what the manual says in correlation to the fuses. I sadly can’t promise it’ll be the same but worth it to take a look. Let me know how it goes!

This will be the exact same on your SUV as long as you find the correct relay which can be done through the use of your manual. Sadly to get only the fog lights to stay on you will need a separate switch put in like you would use for an LED bar or underglow.

Joe Gotti It will be completely different wiring but as long as the you locate the correct wiring and relay then you should be fine. Be cautious and if you are unsure then do more research or make sure you do it in a way you can reverse it.

Great question. I can't say for sure sadly. I would take a look to see if the wiring is of the same generation because if it is then it should work the same but as there is an eight year gap between our two vehicles I sadly can't make any promises. I checked out the wiring diagram for my 09 and it doesn't have a fog lamp relay, so unfortunately I don't think it'll work.

Looks like the Gen 2s with the automatic light function (not just DRLs) don't have the isolation relay for the fog lamps. Just the relay for the fog lights themselves and only 4 blades ( same pattern as yours but missing the middle one out of the row of 3)

MinexXx525 haha my friend nothing will blow up. Try it find out yourself. It should work but buy a replacement relay just incase something goes wrong. They aren't very expensive. You can always return it if you don't end up needing it

I think the simplest way to do this would be to wire/plug in your fog lights to the headlight switch, they use the same H11 plug for both low and fog, and then plug the fog light connectors to the low beams. That way, you just toggle the fog light switch to turn on and off your low beams, which also allows you to run the high beams with the fog lights, but without the low beams... Might not be the best solution, but it's the simplest that I found. I also have a 2014 toyota camry, and I'm going to attempt to do this tomorrow. There might be another way to achieve this, but it would require you to add an additional relay and some more harnesses, and I have no idea how to do that. Plus, its actually illegal to have 6 front facing headlights on your vehicle... Idk why that is, but thats the law. I'll try and let you know how it worked. I might even make a video about it. I realize this is a 2 year old post but it's funny how me looking for this exact mod for this exact vehicle came up in a comment section of a totally different vehicle.

Roberto D Yes as long as the circuits and relays are all the same then this will be the exact same procedure on your 03. So check first. To my knowledge Ford didn’t change anything like this in the Sport Trac until the 2nd Gen so it should be the exact same. Good question. Please let me know what you find

Lawrence Katzfey The computer system on a 14f150 is very different and I have never tested it but it should be the same as long as you locate the correct relay. If you are not comfortable doing this then buy a back up relay to replace it immediately if something goes wrong. I don't see why it would though.

I found a few that ranged from $8.99 to $10.99 in American dollars before taxes and shipping. Very easy swap. Just follow exactly what I did and make sure it is the same year and model, then you can't mess it up. Hope that helps!
