Great video. I'll be making my first attempt at making these this weekend, and like that you added no sweeteners to your mix. Do you find that the mango taste becomes sweeter after dehydration or does it taste the same as not being dehydrated? Thanks for the upload. Really appreciate it. 🙂
@thehomesteadnurse11 ай бұрын
Thank you! I find it depends on how ripe the mangoes are at the time of dehydration that determines the sweetness.

Depends on your dehydrator, but I don’t see why not
@hellogoodbye31294 ай бұрын
Spray it with Pam cooking spray or equivalents. Sugar sticks to bare metal of any kind so you need a bond breaker. Parchment paper or wax back works very well. Bet yourself a paper slicer. Makes the the finished product look like you know what you are doing!😂

Loved the video but can you share your dehydrator temp & how many hours they take?

140 degrees for 8-9 hrs should do the trick

@thehomesteadnurse Жыл бұрын
I would say anything temp higher then that you will be cooking so your good! I would try 10 hrs and if it not completely dry you can always add time.

how long dobthey last in the fridge?
@thehomesteadnurse Жыл бұрын
You do not have to put them in the fridge since they are dehydrated. If you dry the fruit completely with dehydration it can last 6 months to a year in your pantry.

Im in the process of making my first batch of Banana Pineapple fruit leather. When I blended the puree and poured it into the tray it was a bright yellow and now a few hours into drying it's starting to turn a little brown, is this normal? TIA :)
@thehomesteadnurse9 ай бұрын
Yes, It can happen especially if the pineapple is very moist going in. I would just look out for any white spots on the brown areas that indicates mold. You can squeeze lemon juice around your pineapple before you dehydrate it next time to try to prevent the brown.

Pro tip use a potato skin peeler on mangos
@thehomesteadnurse3 ай бұрын
Do whatever is easier for you 🙂
@kitomad7357 Жыл бұрын
Why not just use a peeler to peel the mango? Or cut the mango in half (short ways) around the seed, twist the two halves and the seed comes right out. Or cut the mango in half long ways around the seed, the two halves will be similar to when you cut an Avocado in half. Cut the mango into little squares inside of the peel, then turn the peel inside out and you can scoop all the little mango squares out of the peel.

I cut it in half long ways on both sides of seed and peel the fruit off the outer peel. Less waste that way. And more deliciousness!!

Fun fact: Mango is in the same plant family as poison ivy and poison sumac. The pit, peel, sap….pretty much everything except the flesh that we eat contains urushiol, the chemical responsible for poison ivy rashes. Just wanted my absolutely painful experience to be helpful to someone else.
