Thanks so much, Didi! That was me as well. The Gel Press sat in my drawer for months before I actually used it. Acrylic paint really makes everything pop. Happy creating!

Amber, I love these backgrounds & I've never heard of a Rubbing Plate before, but they look so cool! I've just started using my gel plate & am getting interested in mixed media as well. Thanks for the great video.

Thanks so much, Teri. They were new to me too. I find them easier to use than stencils because the pattern is raised so it doesn’t leave a straight edge like stencil. Loving them so far!

Your cards are adorable! I need to use my gel press more! I never would have thought to use stamps this way. I don’t have any gel press lift plates, but I have lots of stencils! My favorite of the new release is the Father’s Day one with the little mouse hopping on Dad’s belly. It reminds me SO much of my kids jumping on their dad’s belly when they were little. Thanks so much! 😊❤️

Excellent talk thru of process. LOVE the end results. I really just need to get out of my own way and try this concept of not trying to control the outcome with mix media/gel press. It will be hard.

I'm only just getting into mixed media and gel plate techniques, and I really enjoyed this video. It explained a lot of things I had wondered about when working with acrylic paints on the gel plates, thank you 💝

I just purchased some stamps from this line, those with the mice. They are so cute! (I have a thing for tiny critters with pink feet and pink noses.) This was fun to watch. I recently bought a card-sized gel plate, but haven’t tried it yet. After watching you, I’m going to try. Even your ‘fails’ are pretty.

I have watched quite a few gel press artist’s videos, but I have not been able to achieve the results I was aiming for, or that they got. I now know why - I did not know that the paint needed ’rewetting’ if it’s dried too much! Thank you so much for that pretty simple piece of advice, that nobody else has mentioned. That, and the other tips + your gorgeous pictures have re-motivated me to try again. (Also, I’ve just ordered some rubbing plates - why have I not heard of these before either??? ☺️)

Amber, my first time by and love your technique. Can you show me where I can find beginners to gel pressing. Like adding white over to pick up everything. I have seen it before but found it intimidating and you make it look so easy. Please help. Also dies the paint you use really make a difference with this technique. Thank you 😘.
@NotableInk3 жыл бұрын
Welcome to my channel, Bonnie! I also thought it looked intimidating until I jumped right in. One tip that makes the biggest difference is using the right amount of paint. You want a thin layer of paint. If too much paint is used the brayers slips instead of rolling and the print will be messy without much identifiable texture and pattern. A good place to start is this play list on the Gelli Arts channel. kzbin.info/aero/PLvBgDZe4duWtnRGMW1p8srsUtzhcgO_oH Happy printing!

Fabulous! I have not done gel press. Is there a paper that works best with the gel press? Thank you!
@NotableInk3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I think you'll love it. Smooth paper will produce cleaner images while textured paper produces a distressed look. If you're going to print directly on a card front, then smooth cardstock like Neenah Classic Crest would work. But, mostly I use this super-smooth 60 lb color copy paper from Hammermill. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004E3JWTO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1&tag=notableink07-20 I also use this copy paper for Copic coloring. It's thick copy paper, but not thick enough for a card base so I paste the card front onto the card base after coloring. This paper is 60lb cover weight, so it goes through my printer better than cardstock when I'm printing digital stamps. I wanted a thinner paper for collaging, so I just ordered Hammermill Printer Paper, Premium Laser Print 32 lb. We'll see how that goes. I hope that helps. Happy printing!!
