Thanks for getting RIGHT into the information. I tried making ghee before and it wound up being brown butter. Delicious, but, not what I wanted. Tonight, after watching your tutorial, I did it while replaying parts of the video over and over. It came out perfectly 🥰. I will save the milk solids in the refrigerator to make rice with.

We Ethiopian has almost similar butter but infused with cardamun and other spices. First, we malt the the butter (not cooked), remove from the stove, add cold water double quantity of the butter and put in the fridge overnight. Second, the next day the butter will be solidified on top, the water and milk will be at bottom. You can remove the water and milk by making a little hole on solidified butter or you can remove the butter from the top and put it on other pot. (This process will help purify the butter with out using longer time heat.) Add cardamom( optional) melt it(cook) on very low heat few minutes, take it out from stove let it set for for 3 minutes and slowly strain it to separate from the remaining spices.

I'm trying this method now. I'm using 1 lb of unsalted org butter into a 2 quart sized heavy bottom pot. Can hardly wait to test the end result. I would prefer salted butter, thought about adding some sea salt in with this now but dont want to mess things up. So...next time, using salted butter.

Thanks. Adding 1 teaspoon of wheat flour in melted butter will make the process faster as flour absorbs the moisture.
@MilhaanHome Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure how this would work. Many people use ghee for fasting and prayers so I’m not sure adding flour is allowed.
@imranakbar796 Жыл бұрын
This traditional technique has been used in Punjab where remaining flour would be further processed by adding sugar etc. to prepare a sweet dish called visannan (halwa)
@MilhaanHome Жыл бұрын
@@imranakbar796 oh I see! So you use the flour to make the ghee, remove the flour, then add sugar to make sheera or halwa! Nice 😊
