Bravo! Btw, the losers making negative comments below are too broke to go buy a gimbal and totally missed the intent of the video. Very cool build! I think more than anything it’s a testament to how accessible controllers are these days and their endless uses. 20 years ago such a thing would have been thousands of dollars. Now we can make these in our garage haha.

If you really want to make one yourself, I can only imagine companies doing this with stepper motors or BLDC motors with feedback like a megatron rotary encoder. Servo motors, like in this video are a super cheap (and shaky) alternative.

Servo has only 180 degree of rotation so it's good for initial but brushless motor is more effective in terms of rotation as it has 360 degree of free rotation.

Cool concept. Not sure wood is a good material to go with though as the only thing holding the joints together is the glue. The chunkiness of the handle also looks uncomfortable plus seeing both the phone and action camera on it they both look like they are not balanced correctly. Looking forward to seeing version 2.0 build.

Servos are not really applicable for this purpose.... Firstly they're really slow and has less precision than a stepper or bldc motor with feedback...
