love that layering technique with the citrus slices and icecubes. for hendricks gin and tonic cucumber is a good garnish. if you are a completionist you can add rose leaves, but those might be overpowering. personally i hate preparing cucumber for garnish, but it always looks really nice. at our bar we do lemon slices for tanqueray, cucumber for hendricks and grapefruit zest or wedge for monkey 47 gin & tonics. cheers from hamburg

I seriously got triggered when I saw the amount of ice our friend here uses in so many of his cocktails. What's the point? I think I'd feel scammed if I got served something like that at a bar :D
@slydesigns96914 жыл бұрын
That's why you can always ask for less ice or no ice to swap out for a chilled glass.
@94djcab4 жыл бұрын
@@mpbiggame1010 There's actually few reasons for using ice. First, indeed, fill the space. the ratio alcohol/soft drink is already good, if I were to fill your glass completely by respecting the ratio, you would be drunk after the second one. If I add too much soft drink, you will basically drink juice with a spin of alcohol. Glass is important also to simply dilute a bit your drink, depending on which one, and of course, leaving it chill. Ice also serves as a decoration. In the pro version it feels like there is a lot of ice, but if it was smaller cubes or shredded, it would take way less space and you would probably feel less triggered. Of course there are also drinks without ice, but usually the soft drink amount is more important or the ratio is respected but you get ~3oz drink. Theres's also of course stronger cocktails without ice (Espresso Martini, which is 1oz of Vodka, 1oz coffee liquor and 1oz espresso) but you won't get 5 of them. Besides, yes, you can also not enjoy that much ice and ask for less, but usually, unless the guy making you the cocktail is an amateur/incapable, you will get a decent and equilibrated drink
@siegbert_schnoesel4 жыл бұрын
@@mpbiggame1010 using less ice will water down the drink. more ice melts slower

These drinks look fabulous, lots of work goes into the presentation. But there’s no point using a super premium gin, which you describe as ‘super tasty’ if you’re going to dilute it 2:1 with tonic, and flavoured tonic at that. Good gin is fine. Save the premium gin for a bone dry martini.

Whenever I make gin tonics at home, I use a more expensive gin. I mean, I only have some citrus fruit for it (I'm not a fan of cranberries or rosemary), the gin and the tonic so it's one of the very few areas where I can make it taste the best within my abilities. Hendricks or Napue (Kyrö gin) is usually my gin of choice but since there are great Gin distilleries in Finland I switch it up every now and then.
