i have made soooo many of these with stained glass. Its pretty simple, you can hand cut the glass to any shape you want. and put the shapes together to make designs, once the designs are finished you lay contact paper on the top and pick up the design. Then you place that in the bottom of the frame and pour the concrete on the top. once dry, you flip the mold out and remove the contact paper, perfectly flawless everytime and you dont need all that water and the brushing at all..the glass is perfectly sitting at the top all surrounded by concrete... You can do this with colored concrete and all sorts of shapes. they are called mosaic stepping stones.. your video was awesome, thanks,

@@christaahamer8235 it has a sticky side after you peel the protective paper off...can be used to line kitchen shelves. In this case...you use the sticky side to pick up your mosaic design, then lay glass side up in the bottom of your concrete form. Pour the concrete on top, let set, flip it over, & your mosaic is revealed after removing the contact paper.

I used to think that about watching some experts at work and then kept watching because these people are experts and the view count speaks for that. I love Odell's work and the fact he has a moderate attitude with it. Also, he can get down on his knees and not make it look uncomfortable! Those pavers are really something by design and could serve many uses, such as a private home memorial for any deceased loved one. Maybe add a stone glass initial as suggested. Or maybe just to place a pot and bunch of flowers when you can't make a visit to the grave or cemetary. Today is my mothers birthday who unfortunately passed away several years ago. Mr O, you have started something now. Karma will love you, as do I. X

I like it, specially the one that you fully covered. It's so interesting how the glass pieces surface on their flat sides.

I didn't think of that until now. I think the reason for that is when the glass lands on top, it lands flat and not on its side or ends. That's why you want to pound it straight down not to roll it over.

Would this have sharp edges? I would love to do this in my walkway from my lake to house but worried about wet bare feet getting cut.
@swamppifi61863 жыл бұрын
Yes that is my concern as well, you may cut yourself walking on them with bare feet if any of the sharp edges are exposed. Maybe you can use the rounded glass beads you can get from the garden section, they kind of like flat marbles.
@woodywood69613 жыл бұрын
Glass is kind of strange, its almost a liquid. Over time any sharp edges will dull down. In this case though, he specifically mentions using tempered glass. Commonly called safety glass. It breaks into squares not sharp shards so its a bit harder to cut yourself. I think being in concrete also offers a layer of protection because not enough of any rare sharp edge is exposed to cut into your skin. What I mean is your foot is supported either side by the concrete so the glass cant really cut you

We used to occasionally pour pool decks with concrete that used colorful pea gravel as the aggregate. After we floated, edged and troweled it, we would spray a retarder on the surface and let it cure for a while (don't remember how long) and then spray the uncured cream off the top to expose the pea gravel. Always looked great! Just wondering if you thought that might work well (spraying retarder) in this application... Cool video. That's hard work you guys are doing. Young man's job for sure.
