I think ore farming is a pretty consistent way of getting a bit of gold without thinking about it too much. Especially with the release with mount it became quite enjoyable too!

Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to make this! I went from ~100 gold max to regularly sitting in the 1000 - 2000 gold range, which feels especially satisfying considering how little time I have to dedicate to the game. Your channel as a whole has been so incredibly helpful, and I truly hope at you're receiving the audience appreciation you deserve.

I've spent so much gold on it, I began to wonder how I can use them to make something back. And despite being solid, this guide isn't too in-depth, it's no economics lecture. Thank you!

Just started playing around with Profits and Efficiency when searching for finding the best profits in a list. I recently realized the CraftGold only does the cost for the recipe and not the whole recipe "tree" (ie. buying the intermediate components and not the cost if you craft them). -> Love Effi's layouts for when I'm doing a search that includes part of the name (like Abree did with "silk insignia"). -> Profits seems to be the only site that you can search a raw mat or an intermediate component and it give you a list of items that you can see the cost of "tree"? -> Profits also seems to be the only site that you can search recipes from a crafting discipline and it give you a more accurate cost for a recipe tree that includes account bound intermediate components?

Just wondering r there groups that have mentors to help one around with farming and crafting for gold? Appreciate the video, but I have to correct one part. There is no yield difference between using self-resourced materials or purchased materials when trying to profit on a crafted item. You still pay the same fee on the crafted item and that evens it out. Unless you want to invest the time to make some extra buck through the added value of whatever you craft, you can just go ahead and list the mats. Whatever extra money you get through crafting is from the added value of the crafted item only. Here is an example: Materials Required Material Listing Price Per Unit Fee Crafted Item Value 10 Pieces 1 Silver 15% 11 Silver Initial investment in silvers using bought materials 10 Profit in silvers after crafting the item and selling it 0.85 Initial investment in silvers using owned materials 0 Profit in silvers after crafting the item and selling it 9.35 Profit selling already owned materials directly 8.5 Profit diff crafting and selling over selling owned mats 0.85 ( = added value of the crafted item, as in the first example )
@abree107 Жыл бұрын
Your profit in the case of buying those items at 10s and listing it at 11s would give you a net profit of -0.65s after the tax, not +0.85. It does actually end up netting you more. In your example, the item is actually ONLY worth crafting if you're using your own materials. Such situations can actually be really important to recognize if you're trying to liquidate materials you have and all of the recipes look "bad" on a crafting calculator. Some of the most efficient gold-makers make use of this and chain processes together to propagate their profit as much as possible. People who process unidentified gear can use their raw materials to craft stuff at break even or profit that would otherwise be a loss for everyone else that has to buy those materials. This effect is obviously most extreme in instances like your example, where the margin between the buy order and sell listing is 0 (functionally, it would only be possible for it to be 1c). On the other end, this effect disappears as soon as the margin between the buy order and sell listing reaches 15%. Any higher than that, and you'll be better off just selling the materials. Conceptually, this makes sense, because at that point it would be profitable to just flip the materials on the trading post. I could have probably included an example like this in the video, but you've illustrated the point I was trying to make quite nicely!

@@Goblexter No shame in it. When you do that kind of math in your head or even with a calculator, but don't write it down, there's going to be something you miss like that. Nice video sir! I got a question about the part where you say it's more profitable to farm ores to craft things rather than buying them directly in TP : when you buy the ores from the TP, you only got 5% taxes when you buy them in an order right? But the time to make an order is way less than farming the same amount in order to save 5% of the prices (if you can craft more items for the same time, you earn more gold), so I wonder why you say it's more profitable to farm them. Thanks 😃
@abree1072 жыл бұрын
Buying items does not have a tax. The comparison is of the opportunity cost basically. Margins on individual items will be larger with your own materials. You're correct that scaling up can be more profitable if you can move enough volume. A lot of players don't have the gold to toss around to do that though. You also get plenty of materials from your regular gameplay and that point was largely made to illustrate that using those materials is important for getting the gold value out of your normal gameplay. It is a game after all and sitting in a lounge placing orders and crafting forever isn't fun for most players.

Apologies. Unfortunately, if I go too in depth most people seem to not like that and very few will watch a video past 10 minutes. This video was meant to be more about the recipe searching options than it was about everything else. Perhaps you could tell me what part of the process you felt was missing from the examples/footage used? Lumps of mithrillium can be crafted into electrum or deldrimor steel ingots, which can then be sold for a modest profit or used for further crafting. Unfortunately, a couple of decent recipes may require unlocking. Something I probably should have included is if you're trying to craft something and can't, using the /wiki command to look the item up can be a great way to see if there's a recipe you're missing or if you're accidentally using the wrong crafting discipline (which DEFINITELY doesn't happen to me on a near daily basis). Some items are honestly profitable only because unlocking their recipe is more difficult than other items, so people avoid doing it. You kind of need to decide for yourself if it will be worth the trouble or not.

So if you value your personal time, any gold making in this game makes no sense. hence this game is p2w. I RLY wish they would remove the gem -> gold conversion
@abree107 Жыл бұрын
Gold is largely for cosmetics and quality of life. The people who push the limits of in-game gold making can reach over 200g/hr with methods like this, which is pretty competitive for some people. You have to remember, not everyone has it well enough to swipe where they are. There's also plenty of people who enjoy playing GW2 more than working. They'd rather spend 3 hours enjoying themselves than 1 hour working somewhere they hate. It's just an option.

If you're upset that your firebrand is getting nerfed, then that has no effect on making gold with crafting. Also as a whole, the game has power crept slightly over time so it's "buff wars 2". If you're upset by something else, then I honestly have no clue what you're on about. You don't spend money crafting, you spend gold. There's no "nerfing" an orichalcum plated dowel. It's still used in the same recipes it has always been. In any case, if you don't enjoy playing the game, maybe consider not playing anymore and stop watching KZbin content for it?
