How to make “gunsmith” screwdrivers for hand planes

What a great project. Gunsmith screwdrivers are not easy to find plus, these have your personal touch. I believe one will use a tool they like the look of and, will not use one they don't no matter how well it works. Bringing beauty to our labors, it makes them som much more enjoyable.

Delightful video. I am a gunsmith in training and want to learn more about the techniques of forging my own tools. The rounding and curving of the handles seems like a complex process. What math do you use to get the correct shape?

Thanks! The shape was just intuition :P just try grabbing them every now and then until the shape feels right and looks good. I've been trying to perfect making these screwdrivers so I can sell them but the hardest part right now is trying to quench the whole screwdriver blade and not just the tip. But it keeps warping 😭

What stock did you use for the cap iron driver?

It was pre-ground A2 steel
