@@belsherivera9782 You are correct in saying this content is a bit of a downgrade from what we've seen in the past. However, with the massive setback and heartbreak that was the hand guard episode, I don't blame Alec and Will for taking a step back for a while. I'd prefer that they take a little breather and make a few fun little episodes here and there to recuperate. Like you said, "Quality over Quantity" and the best quality isn't going to come from someone who is depressed, overworked, and stressed out.

Bedazzle!!! I'm expecting everything from now on to have jems. Hopefully they won't be in a place that will cut your hands. Actually, I can't think of any place on a scredriver that would justify a jem. Screwdrivers are designed to be utilitarian, not pretty. Hopefully whatever he does will not be unnecessarily gaudy. There were a lot of comments about the jewel on the ring. I hope he saw those and will make something that is not bedazzled.
@aaron.silveira
@aaron.silveira 5 жыл бұрын
Philip Curtis very true. When I saw Will’s handiwork I immediately imagined a simple dark wooden handle that would not distract from the Damascus pattern. If he does end up putting a stone in I hope the gemstone can add to the piece but not overshadow the Damascus. I think a good Damascus pattern (like on the kopesh that Liam Hoffman finished up for Alec) can be all a piece needs to be truly beautiful. In all honesty I think Alec just really enjoys having a skill that will does not have, because Will’s skill with the belt grinder is superb. Oh boy I’m remembering Hoffman’s coffee etch on that Damascus and I’m getting severely happy. Time to go rewatch that video😂

@@aaron.silveira Exactly. I think I'll re-watch some of those vids. There's something satisfying about a simply made axe that is made to perfection and is meant to chop. There's a time and place for everything, and tools are meant for working. Damacus is ok, but stones-no.

Years ago my dad made a phillips screwdriver out of Inconel 725 - whole thing, handle and all, machined out of a scrap piece from making jet engines. Even sneaked it into the parts bin to get heat treated. He put a mirror polish on it, and it was beautiful. It got stolen with the toolbox in the back of his pickup truck about 15 years ago.

Hey Alec! Screwdriver's looking great! Would you guys ever consider making some kind of tutorial-style video on forging, as after watching your videos (specifically your back to basics series) you have inspired me to have a go and forging and try to forge a knife as a present for my Mum as her 50th is coming up. I would love to learn about forging and make it into a real hobby. I'm just a 16-Year-old boy from Australia, and I find your videos super inspiring. Keep up the great videos mate.

I was under the impression AvE's screwdriver was based on a fairly historic design that's isn't really economically feasible nowadays, regardless of it's arguably superior feature set... Anyway, beautiful design, should be pretty sweet.

I don't know why but I'm so looking forward to this videos. I like the sword and knife work but it's been a long time ago when i saw some great tool forging. It's nice to watch the making of the tool and then to see it at work. Loved the hammer forging in the UK and I love this screwdriver forging. Keep up the great videos. It looks like everything is getting settled now. The video work is great, the sound is great and the editing is getting spot on. You did find a good balance between Will and Alec. 2019 will be a great forging year.
