I never wore a shower cap and did water rinses every other day during the first month of my locs and my hair is now locd. The two strand twist pattern is almost nonexistent as well and it’s been 2 months. 4c hair loves water and it helps it loc much faster!
@AlexisHarris4 жыл бұрын
Yessss, Nya!!! You’re so right 🙌🏾💕 what were your water rinses?!? Did you completely submerge your hair in water or did you do more like a mist? I might try those every now and then between washes! Love the idea 😍

Alexis Harris Alexis Harris I just did water rinses in the shower by dunking my head under the water and letting my hair and scalp get completely saturated. Sometimes my hair didn’t need a wash with shampoo, just a rinse!

I absolutely love your videos and your locs!! I have 4c hair also and while doing research I wanted to follow someone with the same hair type. Then I found you 😊 My journey started exactly one week ago on February 4, 2023. I started thinking about locing my hair back in December, did research in January and jumped right in. I’ve always loved the way locs look and I’ve been looking for a way to embrace my hair since going natural 9 years ago. I truly believe locs are the answer. I’m not a product junkie but I gathered the ones I had and got rid of them. Why? My locs won’t need them. I’m fully committed to my journey and excited for it. Thank you for sharing the way you do…even years later!!

Details! You gave ALLL the details. Lol but honestly, you were so spot on when you mentioned how our loose natural hair reacted to water. It is so interesting to be on this journey and essentially re-learn my hair. Basically, I do the opposite of what I learned from my loose natural days. I’m loving it so far.

Hi beautiful. Thanks for the tips. Yes water in your hair and body keeps your hair and skin looking healthy. Your skin is flawless. What is your skin routine? Be aware that lint and frizz are issues that you will have to deal with during your loc journey. It is absolutely essential to find an oil or moisturizer that your hair "likes" in order to lessen the frizz. Find your core products and maintain your shampoo and conditioner schedule. Less is more when you have locs. Our locs are like a magnet for anything in the atmosphere. Keep the videos coming. I'm so proud of you Alexis!

Hello gorgeous!!! Loved loved LOVED reading your comment. So many helpful tips in there and your hair looks beautiful!!! Thanks for the compliments 😍 I’m with you 100000% when you say WATER keeps your hair and skin healthy. Maybe I’ll film my skincare routine one day! Alexis Harris kinda especially when they kept unraveling but I just kept redoing them after about 3 months they were long enough to put elastic bands on the ends i was surprised my hair was loc’d in as little as 7 months because everyone on KZbin keep saying braids take the longest to lock like I said I credit that to the once month interlocking I was doing which I have extended to every 6 to 8 weeks now oh I wore the bands on the ends during washing for about 4 months

So my boyfriend started his locs a little over 2 weeks ago and the stylist told him not to wash it for two months and not to spray it or anything She will wash it when it’s time for his first retwist I don’t agree with it 100% because i know his scalp and it gets real itch and he has dandruff What do you think?
@AlexisHarris4 жыл бұрын
Hey Rozlyn! Great question. I’m a firm believer that we have to take care of our hair and scalp and clean it when it’s dirty or itchy or irritated! Since it’s so early in his journey, he may choose to cleanse the scalp a different way (maybe with a damp cloth) instead of submerging his full head of hair in water. My first wash and retwist was at 4 weeks and I’m just fine 😊💕🙏🏾 hope this helps!!!! Keep me posted

I’m only 2 weeks in and my hair has started budding all over, in the top and middle of the new locs. I can’t find anywhere if this is normal?? I do all the things you just mentioned so maybe that’s why?

I’m curious to know how you retwist two strand locs? Is it just palm rolling or actually twisting at the root? I’m looking to start my locs soon and trying to see which method is best.
@AlexisHarris4 жыл бұрын
Hey beautiful! If they’re unraveling (like not loc-ing), I recommend retwisting from the root. But if they’re maintaining their consistency but the freshly retwisted look isn’t looking so fresh anymore, you can palm roll. I have a video on how to retwist and you can see my loctician do my full head of locs 💕
@Tadana20024 жыл бұрын
Hey girl!!! Still here following you every step of the way😊. I am suffering from loc unraveling. I had my retwist a few days ago and ofcoz l spritz with water. This makes my locs unravel so badly. I would like to wait 5 weeks before retwisting but at this rate l cant, l really can't deal. Any advice? Should l just go ahead and retwist?
@AlexisHarris4 жыл бұрын
Hey beautiful!!! So glad you’re still hanging in there with me and checking out these videos 😍😊 THANK YOU! I’d definitely say retwist any locs that unravel because the longer you wait, the longer it’ll take for that loc to catch up with the others (at least in my mind lol). I’m no expert though, so do what feels right to you! I waited weeks to comb out and retwist the three of mine that unraveled... and, looking back, I should have retwisted them sooner. Once I retwisted them, they stayed perfectly in place like the rest of my locs 😍 so I don’t know why I waited so long lol

My bf used extensions to do his two strand twist becsuse his hair was pretty short Will it still locc up with extentions?
@AlexisHarris3 жыл бұрын
Hey love! It definitely will still loc. Most people end up cutting off the extensions when their real hair grows longer. He will be just fine! Super excited for him 💖
