The tools (Clean, washed by dishwasher or sanitized by hot water, no moisture or dirt):
1. 32oz. Kerr Wide Mouth Quart Mason Jar(amzn.to/3aPFVL3)
2. Kettle
3. Funnel(amzn.to/3xkX8n3)
4. 1 / 2 cup measuring cup or spoon(amzn.to/3QdRbRx)
5. Spoon(amzn.to/3zvL9pt)
6. Heat resistant measuring cup (4 cups capacity)(amzn.to/3mzgEaz)
7. A thin cotton cloth (It could be a cloth cut from unwanted cotton clothing)
8. Rubber band
The ingredients:
1. 1 /2 cup - GT's Kombucha, Original 16 Fl Oz(or the starter that your friend gives you)(amzn.to/3aGQu2E)
2. 3 1 / 2 cups - Hot boiling water
3. 2 teaspoons or two tea bags - Black tea
4. 1 / 4 cup - Sugar (Non-bleach, organic is the best)
Kombucha is a drink that is fermented from sweet black tea by variety of yeast and bacteria. Kombucha has few kinds of yeast and bacteria, not just one. During the process of the fermentation, scoby is formed. It stands for Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast. It is what floats on top of kombucha.
For taking more beneficial probiotics products, I began to ferment my own veggies besides taking probiotics. Slowly, I noticed a lot of health websites mentioned kombucha. I was very curious because I wanted to get better and I was willing to try everything. Just like that, I started to raise my kombucha farm in the fall of 2020. I have experienced a lot of failure but I found my way to get it work. My kombucha starter is now strong and healthy. It makes great kombucha tea. I also encouraged my friends to join me!
TIPS:
1. No DRY SCOBY. I repeat DO NOT USE DRY or ONLY SCOBY. It doesn’t work. From my experience, only starter tea can make kombucha from scratch.
2. Tea can be made before hand and let it cool down in the room temperature for one night or one day. You can make tea in the morning and mix it with starter at night or you can make tea at night and mix it in the morning or you can wait for one day.
3. Oven with the light on or warm spot 70 to 75 degree F
4. Do not cover the jar with sealed cap. Use cloth so it can breathe
