Wonderful tutorial! I made goats milk soap, adding the milk w the lye/water solution. It immediately "broke" and turned bright orange. It looked like ground carrot floating around. I have to say my batch turned out a creamy tan after that but I sure don't understand how. All of your soaps have such a wonderful, creamy look to them. Forget the girly-girl thing - the rustic is gorgeous!

I've got some in the crockpot now. So far everything is matching yours exactly except mine is a little creamier in color, less yellow because I left out the oats. I also used coconut milk instead of goat's milk and added Amaretto flavored whipped honey. Oh, and I added cocoa butter to the superfats as well.

The soaps are absolutely so gorgeous to look at so in part, I think they sell themselves especially if there is a nice fragrance attached. I will move that direction just need to delve further into the technical end of the business. The soap I got, the other not so much.

It's perfect. It turned out really good. A very, very light smell from mostly the honey I think. But it's good stuff. It did darken a little after curing. Very pretty soap and a wonderful lather. It's good stuff. I'll make it again I'm sure. Thanks for such good instructions. I will check out the new video.

I am going to try making goats milk, oatmeal, amd honey soap. Listening to you describe the way that it smells, I have to try it. Now, if I add ground cinnamon to it then it really will smell like home cooked oatmeal.Anyway, thanks for inspiring me to try this. Love your videos a lot. I watch them every day here on youtube. Bye for now, Lori.

Yes, the scent of Grapefruit is Heavenly in cold process and when added with 10x Orange it has great long term staying power! It may have staying power by itself, but I'm a sucker for as much citrus as you can throw at me 😁 It's one of those scents that perks back up in the shower/bath.

It was a blast watching this Kim. Wow! Brings back the old memories, doesn't it? This was when you first started out wasn't it? I mean on You Tube. .... You know I've heard they have been using benzoin powder or resin in soap to help hold scents. Most folks that use it swear by it. I haven't tried it myself because I prefer delicate scents anyway. .... As to bare-footing it, 'm always running around in my bare feet in the warm weather. The only time I wear shoes is when we leave the house. LOL.

I am so glad I found this video!! I have wanted to make some GM hot process soap and was not sure how without burning the milk. THanks for sharing your knowledge. If I don;t have steric acid would this affect my soap? Also do you make liquid GM soap? Would love a video on that. By the way, I could sit and watch your videos all day. :) Blessings

I REALLY wanted to start another batch but I have so much soap!! I think I either have to start moving it or buy a new house. Haven't tested the waters yet on selling - wanted to try soaping for years, it has def become an addiction & now I'm up to my ears in soap. But, I love it. I'm dragging some to a family reunion next week - so maybe I'll move some then. I'm curious as to how long you have been soaping, when u decided to make it a business and how. Really curious about all of that.

I would love to try one of your recipes but I don't see any posted (or am I missing something) that includes shea butter in the base formula and I sure didn't want to ask. What is it that makes your bars appear somewhat - not translucent really but almost translucent? Is it the addition of glycerin or ? I've used varied recipes and some have come out almost chalky-looking. Its not ash or lye-heavy just lacking ANY translucence - as I see in so many others bars. Does that make sense? help

Oh we are brilliant. I too make most of my body/beauty & cleaning supplies. Don't want the chemicals, but I too possess a bottle of bleach. I need a kick to do research on selling to find out what I can/cant legally do and all that goes with it. I started w cp (now hp, thanks to you) and the curing period is so long & frustrating!! I'll have to get on it as I'm out of storage space. Thanks Kim! PS: What are you still doing up? Its late on the W coast (here) - even later there.

I enjoyed your video very much! You reminded me of home, running around with no shoes. (Florida, NY now) I've just started watching videos on how to make soap. I'm having trouble finding a soap I can live with. I liked this one sounds real good. Can it be made into a body wash? I'm not much on bar soap. But it sounded really,really good.

Hi Kim, I can't find soy bean oil, Can I use castor Oil or veg oil? in ur video you said: 8 oz water & 10 oz S.H but in your recipes 6 and 8! which one i need to follow? thanks for your video ? your soap looks so nice.:)
@chrisinreallife20226 жыл бұрын
I know this is an old post and you don't have to use the very best base oil but I reallly hope you decidecd against vegetable, or "soybean" oil. After watching these videos I too used a lot of soybean and stuff in my recipe and they alway had an off smell, and then we just bit the bullet and started using better base oils as well as superfats and our soap got so much better reviews, and worked better, and people just appreciated that we were using better ingredients and not just the cheapest stuff we can find. We now get steady more for bar and most importantly I feel better knowing that even our base oils in our products are the good-quality our customers deserve. Castor oil, btw, is a great oil to add to your recipe as it helps other oils absorb so I hope you picked that!!!

@earlenewill97728 жыл бұрын
+Tracy Preston, In order to avoid coconut oil, all you need to do is do a little research online (or in some soaping books) to find a suitable substitute. Remember to always run any soap recipes through a lye calculator to get accurate lye: water amounts, especially when you are substituting oils. Also, coconut allergies are lumped in with nut tree allergies, so you may need to consider that when choosing your substitution oils. Although olive oil is a 'soft' oil, with a longer curing time, it does become quite hard, so you might find it useful to increase the olive oil in a recipe and lengthen your cure time for the soap. Of course you still need to use a lye calculator when adjusting your recipes. May I suggest doing small test batches whenever you try a new recipe. And careful documentation of your process. I have discovered that if I don't keep detailed notes on a new recipe, that I later can't duplicate a soap I made that I end up really loving. It only took once to discover that, but ever since I have been trying to re-discover that recipe!
