+Briana Gaona for the sugar? yes... BUT be careful blenders tend to cook and burn sugar so small batches and not for very long, you can also just knead it in a baggie, but it will take longer. great job for kiddo's!

I saw this bunny cake on my friends Facebook and it is so adorable! You take to round cakes and you kinda cut one of them like a basketball )( 👈🏽 and then the middles the bow and the out side is the ears! Then the other round cake is the face. And then you decorate it!

Ashlee, I noticed in the comments that someone replied that the marshmallow smelled bad and another asked about a Halal (sorry if I spelled that incorrectly) substitute. The quickest solution is to use vegan gelatin! It’s also called agar agar. It can be purchased from cake decorating stores, cooking supply houses, and even on line. I think Amazon may carry it. The “regular” gelatin most folks buy at their grocer’s is beef based. It’s made from the marrow of beef bones and therefore can, in some cases, smell unpleasant to some folks. The vegan gelatin is better for salads and desserts which call for gelatin also. The process of soaking the gelatin is called blooming and most all the time you must let the gelatin bloom before incorporating into your recipe. The only time I have ever used gelatin without having to let it bloom was when I used it in making a plum jelly recipe. In that case it was placed directly into the sugar and then added to the juice. That turned out yummy btw. Good luck.

+amber owens this recipe calls for vanilla, as is would be a little bland. but you could flavor with something else if you want. I'd still do vanilla as a base flavor though

hi there quick question, how long would you say is their shelf life? like how far in advanced could i make them before an event?

like any marshmallow not long - if you keep them wrapped up so they don't get dry a little longer - like ziploc bag with most of the air squeezed out you could go a few days - never tried it for any longer cause they were all gone. But on the counter... they get hard after a day

I didn't know I should let marshmallow liquid cool before whipping. I have been watching videos that tell viewers to pour hot sugar liquid into gelatin. I will try it your way by letting sugar liquid cool a bit. It makes more sense and I think marshmallow would come out more fluffier if sugar cools.😊

Does it make sense that I dislike marshmallows but like peeps? I rarely ever remember eating peeps though. Marsha mallows from the store are in a plastic pack and are different colours and seems dead and not fresh and have a strange taste. I remember peeps light and airy and life like with a much nicer taste.

sure! jet puff marshmallows are kinda chewy and gelatin-y while peeps are softer. the multi colored ones are the worst! BUT I'm betting you'd like homemade marshmallows WAY better!

I tried the marshmallow recipe and no matter what I did it grew so fast while.i was bowling it so I sat there and had to keep playing with the heat so it wouldn't boil over what did I do wrong?

+Laura McGuire was it a smaller pan maybe? It grows not matter what but using a large pan helps, and finding that perfect temp, turn it down and if it stops boiling just turn it up a LITTLE bit

now THAT is weird. That can happen when it isn't boiled enough to bring it to a hot enough temp, but obviously your were watching your boil closely. Hmmmm was your gelatin fresh? let me brainstorm, the only time I had a problem with it not setting right was when I stirred in melted caramel , but I assumed it was because I didn't whip it long enough that time (and the warm caramel didn't help)

Vanilla bean paste is delicious, or just vanilla extract is classic. I've also flavored with peppermint or cinnamon or other fun flavors to personalize them! go crazy and have fun!

I tried these but I can’t figure out where I went wrong! My peeps turned out grainy and dissolvable. You know when you find an old frosting container in your pantry and the top has a thin hardened film on it? Imagine that but biting into that. That’s how mine turned out. 😂 where did I go wrong?

I wouldn't use marshmallow fluff because it doens't hold up as well as real marshmallows so you might end up with a melted pool of peeps, also the homemade marshmallow is very easy to make
