Unguligrade power! I remember you said how important taxonomic classification is to you, so here you go! Also, as per your usual, your craftsmanship and overall quality are impeccable. In addition, the creativity and pleasant colour palette make your videos such joys to watch. The music in this was especially lovely; the song during the beginning of the sewing process gave me a strong magical cave vibe (like the theme song for an olm amphibi-sona), and I am so here for it. You make your videos clear and not overwhelming (a sweet spot which is often hard to find). I was having a rough week, but this definitely helps boost my mood a bit. Stupendous job!

Hey! I'm using this tutorial for my fursuit! When you stuff the hoofs to make them puffy, does the stuffing move around at all or do you sew the liner shut around the hooves or something to keep the stuffing in?
@freckledcatcreations Жыл бұрын
when you put the cuffs on the wrists, that will close up the inside to keep the stuffing in! it naturally stays in the fingers since that's a larger area thats built with room for the stuffing, it doesnt tend to squish into the hand or anything from my experience.

What fabric should I use for lining things? Like hand paws, feet paws, fursuit neck, and a kigu/hoodie hood? I’m a hand sewer 🪡 and I know that cotton has really bad edge unraveling. I saw that you used spandex but I’m not sure if that is the best for a hoodie’s hood.
@triangleshiny3 жыл бұрын
for a hoodie you can use cotton, just hem it properly and you shouldn't have to worry about fraying (look up a tutorial if you don't know what that means, it's hard to describe without visuals), or you can use fray check (best for smaller areas or in addition to something sturdier). there's other ways to finish seams, but a hem is probably the simplest to learn, just make sure they're on the 'wrong' side of your fabric. spandex is usually preferred for fursuits because of its sweat-wicking ability, but handsewing spandex requires a lot of care. use clamps (not pins; they Can work but the fabric will try to wiggle them out of place or out entirely) and a ballpoint needle if you can get your hands on them. they're useful for stretch fabrics since they don't puncture them the way a sharp will, which means less small holes that weaken the fabric if you happen to make a mistake or have to redo a stitch.
@unicorndonut4663 жыл бұрын
@@triangleshiny ok thank you. Everything is doable without a sewing machine, yes?
@triangleshiny3 жыл бұрын
@@unicorndonut466 yes, everything i've told you can be done without a machine! just requires a bit of extra time and patience.
@freckledcatcreations3 жыл бұрын
to add onto what Divonne said: - hoodies and kigus you can use cotton fine, I do that in my kigus! for the raw edge, either cut it with 'pinking shears' which cuts a zigzag line that frays less, or do some overlock stitches on the edge of the fabric (similiar to what a serger does!) - for fursuit heads, hands, and feet linings - you will sweat MUUUCH more in these, so you NEED to line with a 'moisture wicking fabric' like spandex !

genuine question, as i've never worked with bias tape before: why do you have to sew the bias tape twice? couldn't you just skip the first step? (the first round of sewing,with it unfolded)

if you were talented you could skip the first step and sew through all layers at once, but it's kinda hard to make sure you're getting all of it and it's not getting displaced. when you work with it, you'll see what I mean. kinda hard to make sure you get both sides at once.
