You can't just skip ph up making top off water? An then figure out ph after you add water an nutes back to your target.

Was curious about this myself, even though the ph can drop id rather manually balance it instead of rely on the top off water itself and use it for the sterilization and extra magnesium

Adding pH up directly into your water will cause bad chemical reactions. This is why I dilute it in the top off
