How to Make Ice Cream A La Pie from Steven Universe | Feast of Fiction Cartoon Food In Real Life

RECIPE:
Sundae:
Vanilla ice cream
chocolate syrup
whipped cream
Pie Crust Crust:
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp granulated sugar
2 sticks unsalted butter, chilled
Filling:
6 cups fresh strawberries (cut into small chunks, hulled)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tbsp lemon zest
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1. Scoop ice cream into bowl
2. Add chocolate syrup
3. Add whipped cream
4. Slice and place strawberry pie.
PIE INSTRUCTIONS:
Prepare the pie crust dough via scratch or store bought. (we prepared the dough from the Feast of Fiction Kitchen Cookbook, page 179)
Roll out one of the pie crust doughs between two sheets of parchment paper. Roll dough about 9 inches in diameter (or enough to cover your pie dish). Use your pie tin as a measuring tool by placing it over your rolled dough to make sure your dough covers it. Roll or transfer the dough into the pie tin and firmly press it into the bottom and sides of pie tin. Trim the excess dough leaving about a 1/2-inch overhang all around. Cover with plastic wrap and let chill in the fridge.
Roll out the other dough until the diameter covers the diameter of the pie dish and in between two sheets of parchment paper. Let chill in the fridge for 15 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Wash, hull and cut your strawberries into small chunks. Measure out two cups, and combine with the sugar, water, cornstarch, lemon zest and juice, and cinnamon in a medium saucepan. Cook on medium heat until the mixture starts to bubble, remove from heat.
Add the rest of the strawberries to the cooked strawberries and combine.
Pour strawberry mixture into the chilled pie crust. Place chilled pie dough on top of the pie, crimp with a fork or pleat the edges. Brush the top the pie with milk and sprinkle with turbinado sugar. Cut a couple of small slits at the top to vent the pie.
Bake for 45 minutes. If the top of the pie starts to brown quickly, place a piece of foil over the top to prevent even further browning.
Let pie cool before serving. You're serving this on top of a sundae, so best to let the pie come to room temp, then throw in the fridge for a couple hours to really chill.
