I appreciate your time and devotion to designing a recipe for almost everything we buy at the store, proving that everything can be made successfully at home. Better taste, healthier and cheaper. Well done, from Italy! 👏👏

Why do we always think we can't do these things for ourselves? It is disgusting how most of these foods are often one or two ingredients or steps yet cost so much when bought! Not only can I not find any low salt potato chips, but if I did they would be a few handfuls in a large air puffed bag. I appreciate your channel that has taught me so much.

@islandgal5002 жыл бұрын
@@redharlowjr1237 In my case I realized that special ingredients or equipment are not needed to reproduce the product. I am often surprised that this is not the case. Convenience does seem to be a big factor for many but we can lead busy lives and it is great to be able to make it from scratch when it is not available to buy.

Yes. Since developing allergies, I've been making my own stuff. I'm not sure what country you're from but in the US, it's all been handed to us, not many know how to do things on their own now. Most countries do a lot of their own cooking, farming, etc. It's time ppl woke up and did things themselves.

Didi you are just amazing, and an inspiration. As a guy who was rarely allowed into kitchen, and who had to do a lot of improvisation when staying in hostel with limited equipment and ingredients, I absolutely love how you come up with alternatives to these dishes.

Salt immediately after they come out of the oil. For style points, use salt that has been powdered in a spice grinder.

Don’t forget to toss them with “chip salt” while they are still wet. 50% salt, 50% white pepper blended to a powder and sprinkled liberally. Also, on the second cut on the ripples, turn them 90 degrees for a cross-hatch effect.

I remember learning how to cook from great grandma and grandma. Everything from scratch when possible. In the summer we canned veggies/fruit for winter. It's amazing that everyone in my family lived to a ripe old age, considering how much real butter, whole milk, eggs we consumed. We ate less, but of better quality. Meat, usually in the form of a roast or pork chop or stew in the winter, was reserved for Sundays. Frozen food was practically unheard of. And we had less garbage: no Styrofoam cups/plates, no fast food containers, no plastic cutlery, no paper towels, etc. To have a few basic kitchen appliances such as a blender was quite something. We never had a lot of snacks, sweets or chocolate in the house, no potato chips. I was given fruit as a snack or grandma would make me banana milk, basically a smoothie. Eating all the time between meals was frowned upon. Of course today's hectic lifestyle has changed all that.
