Your recipes are the best, Anna! I love learning about the science behind baking. Good cooking is an art and a science! Any possibility for future videos on how to make apricot jam or other jams/preserves?

My daughter is watching this with me. She's freaking out: Mom, she's doing it all wrong! That's not how you make Kolachky! She's 12 and autistic. I told her that's why ours is a SECRET family recipe. 😂😂😂

I have to respectably disagree with this cookies called kolacky. These are more Hungarian kiflis than kolacky. I am Czech, kolace and kolacky are originally from Czech and Moravian lands (“kolace”is originally czech word and was accepted into english dictionary as regular word) and usually are made from raised dough (yeast). They really look more like danishes but dough is different. They are filled w plum butter, poppy seed filling, sweet farmers cheese, fruits and more. I love your baking Anna! I wanted to be sure you are on the right track

My mom was Czech and made them but they didn’t go by that name. She filled them with an apricot filling (Solo), or a walnut mixture made with ground up walnuts, sugar and egg whites. Also poppy seeds is another filling.

When there is a butter/dairy shortage, it's very hard to bake many things. Vegetable Oil just doesn't make things as wonderful as butter does. It's something to enjoy and be happy about, being greatful for the small things, like being able to have butter, to bake something nice for the people you love.

Is there a butter shortage where you are? If so you could make your own butter from heavy/double cream, it’s very easy to do.

I was intrigued but I recognize absolutely nothing in this Kolacky recipe. Grew up watching my Polish grandmother & mother make Kolacky and I’m baffled. Corn meal? Powdered sugar? Nope!
