Just got this mold for Christmas but I have had trouble with pouring complete jigs. I'm going to try the dry lube. Thanks.

You’re welcome! It should help! Just make sure everything is hot!

Hey Matt! I’d recommend getting some 1/8” Teflon pins for the weedguards. I pour my jigs with Teflon in the weedguard hole and the paint doesn’t stick as bad as it does to the metal pins.
@MattLunaFishing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I’ve been doing it this way for years. Just what I know. I should get some to try out.
@lookin4lunkerz5752 жыл бұрын
@@MattLunaFishing I feel you man! I used the metal pins for a while. I noticed with the Teflon you can get all the way down to the hook because one or two of my molds didn’t let the metal pin get all the way to the hook. It’s also nice because you can leave them in after pouring and paint and everything without worrying about the metal having a ton of paint stick to it
@MattLunaFishing2 жыл бұрын
That’s pretty cool you can leave them in

@@MattLunaFishing Yes sir! I have multiples of my favorite Do-it molds. It's a great and versatile design. Also, after watching your best Do-it molds episode, I bought multiples of the ones I didn't already have. Keep up the great work!

That’s awesome! Glad you got some you didn’t have. A lot of good molds were mentioned in that video. This hybrid grass jig mold is a good one!

Love that mold! One of my favorites. I catch a lot of fish on that!

It’s definitely a killer mold for sure the 1/8 Teflon pins slide when powder painting so you don’t have to use the mold pins

Thanks so much for your super helpful videos! Why are you spraing dry lube, what is the proupose? Thanks again!
@MattLunaFishing Жыл бұрын
You’re welcome for the video. The dry lube helps the lead go in better. I only use it when I’m having issues getting complete pours.

Great mold! I really enjoy the videos, Thank you! What is the name of the tool that you were using to make the skirts?

Thanks for watching! Appreciate it. That tool isn’t around anywhere anymore from what I can tell. I don’t even remember the name. I bought it at a swap meet probably 15 years ago.

In your opinion does it matter whether you let the jig hang or position the jig up to prevent paint sagging? Just new to this and wanting the jigs to come out nice
@MattLunaFishing Жыл бұрын
They don’t have to be in an upright position. When i started I hung the upside down. You’ll only have issues when you have too much paint on the jigs
@mdbassin6267 Жыл бұрын
is there much difference between this mold and the poison tail outside of the collar being different
@MattLunaFishing Жыл бұрын
They are similar molds. Probably boils down to personal preference. The heads are shaped a little differently.

I’m just learning this. Question do you reuse the weed gaurd pin?? I have pants on, but I cannot figure out how to do it without getting paint in the pinhole if I do pull the pin
@MattLunaFishing Жыл бұрын
When it comes to the base hole pin, I reuse them. They will get paint on them, so you just need to clean them. I put mine in a cheap coffee mug and pour acetone into the cup and clean them that way.
@FoxiferTheWhite2 жыл бұрын
Damn good looking jigs what's your approximate cost per jig to make one and how much was the mold?
@MattLunaFishing2 жыл бұрын
It all depends on what components you use. Click the DoIt molds link and check it all out there. I do it mostly for the fun, but it still does end up cheaper than a store bought jig.
@FoxiferTheWhite2 жыл бұрын
I figured that much at least I was just curious as to whether the savings really made it worth doing or it was more just a fun hobby
@MattLunaFishing2 жыл бұрын
It can be both. I still think you should take a look at the website and see for yourself.
