What is the purpose of the third brass insert at the front of the jig?
@JTWoodworks6 жыл бұрын
Bob Armstrong I added that in there in case I need to use the back of the jig to square up a piece since the back of the jigs are cut at 90 degrees. I don't know if I'll ever use it but I added it just in case

@@JTWoodworks With all due respect to you, sir, I think you only needed a single brass screw in the centre... love your vid btw, nice approach.

You show 3 jigs. One is 30, one 60, what is the other one? Is that the 67.5?
@JTWoodworks4 ай бұрын
They are 22.5, 45, and 67.5. These are the three angles needed for the square asanoha pattern

Question: Why not put a 45 at one end and a 67.5 at the other. Then a 22.5 at one end on another one with a 30 at the other end and so on. That way you will have all the ones you will need with it's own separate sliding bar also.

There are many different ways to make these and they'll all work. This is my preferred method and since releasing this video, I've slightly upgraded the design.

Nice man! I was going to make my own guides like this, but then decided to just buy them already made 😅.

I wish the ones he made for me had the full height he started with. Mine are so short there is not enough bearing surface to run more than a 1/2 inch chisel to cut the joints. He just used the knurled thumb screw with a flimsy brass washer that would bend and not lock the stop in place. Replacing the brass washer with a steel one fixed that. The angles were also a bit off but a little time with a plane fixed that. Comparing his jigs to the other I have seen and observed I would rate this type of jig a C-.

The video appears a very straight forward method to produce the angle jigs. Contrary to a couple of other comments I find the music(?) extremely annoying. I also would very much like some commentary to explain your procedure as the video progresses. You don't have to get carried away with explanation but a little bit would be nice. I know I can mute the music but muting would not help if there were some commentary. I also know this is an old video and these comments won't help here but maybe they are suggestions for your future productions.

I'm always amazed at how many people offer quasi negative comments about how videos were not specifically tailored to their own individual tastes. It's a free video for you that he spent his own time to make - watch it, take what you can from it, and say "thank you".

What's with the offensive music, why not let us hear soothing woodworking sounds ?

If you needed more than the video offered, you weren't really ready to make kumiko or kumiko jigs anyways.
