For future videos, please add visual keystroke recording. Even if this is a more experienced tutorial, showing what buttons you press helps out newer users and doesn't harm more experienced users.

also light rays and lasers are only visable on a semi-solid-to-solid background . . . because light it's self is hard to see and altho many objects lit by a narrow beam of light Would Look REALY COOL it's not exactly what we think of as a laser

I think if you want to make the intro of this video, you must use a boolean modifier, for the laser effect. And for the old intro, he subdivide his mesh and apply a build for my opinion. :)

It would also be nice, since you add nodes so quickly and then change your mind seconds later, if when you are all done with the node set up to show a screen shot of all the nodes you use. I am trying to apply nodes to a cube that has been resized and since I did not create the exact object that you did, the results are not the same. But I do thank you for the tutorial...

cool tutorial and it's exactly what I need for a project, but it 's rough to follow along with. you say stuff like "turn THIS down" or "click this" really fast so we can't just listen, but then you also cut the footage before you actually do some of the stuff you say so I've gotta stop every few minutes and figure out what you referred to.

Dang man, if you just showed what the absolute values of your cube were fo the volumetric bit it would work - but since your gradient texture is based on an absolute scale and you don't show those number I (and others) are finding it almost impossible to replicate.

Hi all, @ 11:14 my sparks don't bounce on the plane; instead they fall through it. Everything before looks good. Tried several times from the beginning of the chapter. Additionally, I'm not seeing the sparks during render; just during playback. Any suggestions? THNX

I mentioned briefly at the end of the video that you could use dynamic paint to burn the surface that gets hit by the laser. Look up some tutorials on dynamic paint. You can get some really cool effects with it.
